ADEL SYSTEMS - SOLUTIONS FOR POWER SUPPLY CONTINUITY ADEL system now offers a complete range of products for power supply and energy back-up in the industrial automation field. From the manufacturing and design facility in Reggio Emilia Italy, Adel produces a comprehensive range of power supplies, battery chargers and DCUPS - combined battery chargers and power supplies for the automation and control panel industry.

the battery is partially discharged and then recharged to ensure that when it is required it is an optimum condition.

The three main families are the Power Supplies for single, two or three phase installation, Battery Chargers for 12, 24, 36 and 48V DC up to 35A and the CBI series of DCUPS, a combined power supply and battery charger in one self-contained unit.

There are options for remote monitoring via MODbus and CANbus on various models and the ability to install the DPY351 door mounted display to show the status of the battery without entering a cabinet.

The FLEX series of power supplies are housed in a tough aluminium case for DIN rail mounting. The FLEX series are available with inputs from single (115230V AC) 2 Phase (230V/400V) or 3 phase (400-500V AC). The secondary range from 5, 12, 24 or 48V DC. There are options within the range for paralleling the power supplies without the need to fine tune the outputs, when the “Easy Parallel “mode is enabled. The range is complemented with a decoupling module in the form of the MR220 10-60V DC 25A rating. All the FLEX series Power Supplies are rated at three temperatures 40, 50 and 60 degrees C so that the DC load can be allowed for as the enclosure temperature varies. The range of Battery Chargers from Adel cover from 12, 24, 36 and 48V DC systems. They are available from 3-20A and the option on certain models to parallel connect to have higher charging currents. All battery chargers have a charge current pot to allow the operator to set the charge current as specified by the battery manufacturer. There is also a jumper that is used to select the battery type so that the constant charge voltage is set correctly. NiCD and Lion charge options are available on certain models as a factory fit. All the chargers operate a 90 minute test cycle when in a stand-by situation, whereby 4 - Automation Update

All chargers have a relay output to indicate the status of the supply, either on AC or on battery and a second common alarm for battery condition faults. There are 7 battery conditions faults which are constantly monitored.

THE CBI series of DCUPS units combine all the features of the Power Supplies and the Battery Chargers into one compact powerful unit. The CBI series are DIN rail mounted with a separate output to the DC load and the battery pack. This allows for the battery condition to be maintained at all times so that when the battery is required it is in the best condition, dependant on age and number of charge cycles. The CBI series has a battery start button on the front, which allows the replacement of the battery cassette and the network to be energised without the need for AC. The communication options available are MODbus and CANbus. Utilising the DPY351 it is possible to connect several CBI units together and then have the DPY351 display as a device on the LAN or to use it as a gateway for remote monitoring the battery status. There is a range of battery carriers for holding the 12V batteries, so they can be easily mounted inside the enclosure safely and with the least hassle. They are available is 12 or 24V DC up to 18Ahr. All the Adel product are compact in design and come in a robust aluminium case. Worldwide certifications and Acceptance: casuals according to European Norms EN60950, USA UL60950, Canada CAN/CSA C22.2 N. 60950-00, UL508 and some parts are EN54 compliant. As Adel are aware that even a short interruption in current may cause technical and logistical damage to all types of systems, they have 100% control over their manufacturing. They submit every product to final running in testing at a maximum working voltage and current for 12-24 hours, as well as isolation controls in line with legislation in force. This philosophy is aimed at a continuous improvement of the manufacturing process to guarantee customers satisfaction. They pay special attention to the components they use; all the ranges they manufacture use long-life electrolytic condensers for working temperatures of up to 105°C. They have set up in the Adel system factory a specific laboratory for electromagnetic compatibility and safety testing. The wide range of products, from just a few to 500W, enables designers to have a wide choice of products at their disposal for every application. Any special requirements our customers may have will find a solution in our custom-built (“Custom”) products.

Protocol Change in the Blink of an Eye SOLID67 is the new Murrelektronik line of compact I/O modules. They simplify installations in the field and are especially attractive for applications with IOLink sensors and actuators. loads of up to 16 A. Daisy chains of multiple modules can be assembled to supply power where needed. This simplifies the installation work and shortens the cable paths. PI, the user organization for Profibus and ProfiNet, views the L-coded M12 as the future standard for power connectors. • Minimizing space requirements With a unit width of only 30 millimeters, the thin IO-Link variants of SOLID67 are ideal for installations with limited available space. Modules can be installed extremely close to the process, and sensors and actuators can be connected with the shortest lines possible.

The compact M12 power cables (L-coded) can transmit up to 16A in a smaller form factor. The power supply can be fed to several modules. This simplifies installation and reduces cable runs. PI (user organization for Profibus and ProfiNet) sees the M12 L-coded connectors as the future standard in power connectors.

Introducing Croft Filter’s Quick Release Filter For a simple way to improve a filtration process. to suit. Standard sizes include 2”, 3”, 4” and 6”; however other sizes are available on request. These disc elements are available as a perforated disc, a mesh disc or a hybrid of both to deliver the required filtration size. Typically the discs filter from 20 micron to 4mm. While elements can be perforated using conventional techniques, Croft have developed a disc manufactured using the latest 3D printing technology.

Improving filtration standards can be a challenge for many companies, especially those with fixed operating systems with little room to insert new filter housings to help meet improved filtration standards. Inserting a housing may intrude on the operating system, requiring a new operating layout that comes at cost in downtime. Safer Methods on the Warehouse Floor Handling heavy goods is part of everyday life in the production, retrieval, and storage processes of many companies. Signs of wear are the consequence, particularly among the employees. So it is little wonder that operators of warehouse facilities are increasingly focusing on the creation of ergonomic workplaces. Ergonomics in the workplace should not be seen by companies as a burdensome mandatory task. This is especially the case in view of the ever aging workforce and the skills shortage that is also affecting the field of storage logistics. As such, it is becoming ever more important to create an environment for employees in which they are as unhindered as possible when performing their tasks – and when it comes to the subject of ergonomics, this includes providing working conditions that are as safe and healthy as possible. The physical stress placed on employees is incredibly high in many industries. Average loads of ten kilos per unit are often moved, with the upper limit sometimes as heavy as 20 kg or more. This shows that there is still more to do when it comes to lifting and carrying, despite all the information available about ergonomics in the workplace. As a result of the intensive work-related physical stress, employees within the industry suffer from musculoskeletal problems particularly frequently, leading to high costs and loss of productivity for companies caused by sickness and absence. These costs can be cut and working conditions simultaneously improved by using auxiliary equipment to pick heavy loads ergonomically. Accordingly, the following should be taken into consideration when manually handling loads: 1. Reduce the physical stress 2. Assess the individual physical requirements of the job and the employees’ state of health 3. Follow instructions relating to health risks and ergonomic lifting and carrying and implement measures to avert these risks This is also one of the main reasons why many companies have reviewed their approach and are now increasingly focusing on the health of the employee. is of primary importance for reducing the number of employees absent due to sickness and excessive stress. In addition to the health aspects, there are also economic reasons for establishing greater ergonomics in the workplace, because these measures help companies to increase productivity. The use of labour-saving measures at the interface between man and machine is especially important in the area of warehouse technology, because the demands placed on the employees and the production resources are particularly high here and are also permanently present due to the high picking rates. If the processes are managed in line with the ergonomic goods-to-person principle, labour-saving measures such as the use of automated shelf storage

Looking to achieve unattended production on a Krauss Maffei KM150, Rutland Plastics selected UPM Conveyors to provide a turnkey solution requiring 8 belt conveyors to allow automatic product divert for QC inspection; ferrous/non-ferrous metal detection; product cooling; parts separation and box filling with a capacity of 8 full; 8 empty and 1 filling. Product divert is achieved with a small reversing conveyor located onto a swan neck conveyor in the well of the machine and at any stage in production an operator can energise to reverse and transfer a shot to an integral sample drawer for QC inspection.

This does not affect the moulding machine cycle as product continues to be produced and accumulated on the conveyor until the operator has reset to start again.

The central control is a PLC controlling all aspects of the system interfacing with the variable speed drives on each conveyor and connecting to the weigh scale.
