COMING SOON – GPB CLASSICAL

GPB is committed to producing and presenting the best in public media to communities across Georgia and beyond. Coming soon, listeners can access GPB Classical, a 24-hour HD Classical radio station.

This exciting new channel will provide music programs from Georgia and around the country. GPB Classical is brought to you by the generous support of GPB Leadership donors like Stan Brown, from Macon, Georgia. Brown, who is an instructor at Columbus State University, grew up watching Georgia Public Television, but it was only in college that he began listening to Peach State Public Radio, as GPB Radio was known then.

“I listened to the news programs first, but then gradually more of what then was a full daytime schedule of classical music programming,” said Brown. “After college, I began listening to the opera broadcasts. I didn’t come from an opera-listening household, but I was hooked! In the years since then, I have become a supporter of the Atlanta Opera and visited the Metropolitan Opera in New York. Without the radio broadcasts, I wouldn’t have developed that interest and appreciation.”
