HILTON - DUBAI SOUTH Hilton Dubai South is a 556 key, five star hotel located near Al Maktoum international airport. The project consists mainly of hotel keys but also includes long stay suites, conference facilities and F&B outlets. As a result of proximity to an international airport, building height is restricted to 39 meters. Adjacent to the hotel’s F&B courtyard sits a three story night club building. The hotel’s other facilities include a 1000 seat ballroom, all day dining, specialty restaurants, a lobby bar, gym, spa, and pool deck facilities. Highest floor consists of executive rooms, presidential suite and an executive lounge. Project’s vision is to become an icon in Dubai South providing world class hospitality that serves to guests arriving in 2020 Expo and beyond.

I have personally worked on all stages of design of the project since concept to detail design submission. My major role was to design, and develop the building’s complex façade systems, and provide detail solutions and specifications. During the later stages of design, I have also coordinated all involved sub-consultants including the hotel operator, structures, MEP, lD, landscape, lighting and BOH.

THE HEART OF BUSINESS BAY The heart of business bay project is a 4 million square feet development, located on the largest plot at the center of Dubai’s Business Bay canal. The mixed-use community focuses on maximizing use of waterfront as an amenity for both public and the residents. The pedestrian oriented environment harbors a central park at its center, which is at a walkable distance to retail and F&B waterfronts. Client approached a few international consultants for a competition bid, which the winner ultimately is awarded to continue the project. The community features diverse range of uses including a luxury hotel with waterside specialty restaurants, branded

and serviced apartment towers, low-rise residences with exclusive residential club, and canal front retail with dedicated basement car parking. The development also includes a luxury private island with Sky palace and private villas concept that is unique for the UAE market. My role on the project was to collaborate with a team of architects and consultants to assess the client’s brief, provide a thorough site analysis, design masterplan options, coordinate with visualizers and model makers, and create all necessary diagrams and information for competition report and presentation boards.

UAE’S FIRST CABLE CAR ROUTE PROPOSAL

DIFC MOSQUE DIFC mosque is a 1,500 square meter building, located on DIFC’s latest retail district development the Gate Avenue. The architectural design offers a modern, non-conformist facility which makes reference to tradition by reinterpreting the essence of traditional design in the contemporary context reflecting the position and status of DIFC in Dubai. The building form resembles the simple cube with slight tilt on of the corners pointing to direction of Qibla. Exterior form is envisaged simple with a subtle dynamic mashrabia pattern, referencing to traditional Islamic pattern. Its form employs elements of contrasting solidity and translucency, with careful selection of material and lighting effects. The

interior is however more vibrant and utilizes the play of light with intricate carving, which is economically achieved through modern production technology. Materials also play an important role, and are chosen for integrity and durability. While working on this project, I contributed to planning, research, design development to tender documentation. I have coordinated architectural design submissions with all sub-consultants including Interiors, Façade, MEP, Structure, and FLS. My work also includes authority regulation checks, material selection, and supplier specifications.

INNOVATION HUB Innovation hub is a 1.8 million square feet business park at the heart of Dubai’s premier commercial zones, and adjacent to the Dubai Internet City, Dubai Media City and Knowledge Village. The centerpiece of the Innovation Hub is a cluster of communications and technology facilities. Meanwhile, boutique offices sit next to commercial spaces, retail offerings and hospitality developments in a carefully laid out master plan. The project’s main goal is to create an integrated business campus that is pedestrian friendly, with minimal surface roads. It is designed to become a key business destination

of choice for the community of Dubai Internet City. The masterplan is designed to provide all required services including an 11kV substation, and resereves two additional plots for hotels helping to achieve Dubai Expo 2020 directives. Since early stages of design, I contributed to development of the project in realizing the concept ideas for masterplan. My architectural design work and coordination continued during schematic, detail and tender documentation. The project’s phase 1 was delivered to client in 2015 and is expected for completion in 2017.

ELITE RESIDENCES Occupying a prominent corner site, 6 km to the north of Riyadh’s King Abdullah financial district Elite scheme comprises of three high end residential Towers and F&B dominant two level retail development. It is planned in a ‘Community of destination’ format that will be unique within Riyadh. The towers are three almost identical structures, stepping up in height, which intent to provide an elegant landmark on Riyadh’s skyline. The three Residential towers are turned 45 degrees away from Riyadh City Grid so as to maximize the uninterrupted views towards the city center and 20 degrees from East West, optimizing the daylight, and reducing solar gain to address issues of energy efficiency.

The design of the towers is founded upon principles of geometric clarity and openness that are reflected in their horizontal and vertical organization. The buildings consists of two complementary volumes, the relationship between the two main elements being emphasized through a subtle shift in both plan and elevation that creates a dynamism and variation in scale that responds to the differing scales/ heights of the immediate urban environment. The rectilinear floor plates are configured to ensure privacy while optimizing the perimeter facades for daylight and views. The offset shift between the two building volumes provide for extended floor plates that allow dual aspect corner units that are planned with generous sense of space and light.
