WELCOME

On behalf of the members and staff of Oakland Hills Country Club, we welcome you to the 76th U.S. Junior Amateur Championship.

The information provided in this handbook will guide you in your daily operations throughout your volunteer experience. We have also included important safety information as it relates to our ongoing clubhouse construction project. Please take the time to familiarize yourself with this handbook and let us know if you have any questions.

This is our twelfth time hosting a United States Golf Championship as we continue our partnership with the USGA. We look forward to this memorable week as we host 264 of the world’s best junior amateur golfers on our North and South courses. Your active role in this championship will contribute to its success, and we thank you for your time and support as a volunteer.

PARKING

With limited parking capacity, volunteers are requested to make every effort to support Championship Parking Operations.

The main Oakland Hills Country Club parking lots are strictly reserved for player parking only.

All volunteers will park at the nearby Brother Rice & Marian High School lots. A shuttle will be provided to and from Volunteer Central. Please note that if you choose to walk, it is approximately a 1.5 mile, 30-minute walk from the volunteer lot to the Championship spectator entrance.

As a Championship volunteer, you may park in these lots for all days of the Championship rounds from July 19-27. If arriving with friends and family who are not volunteers, please drop them off at Lot C before proceeding to the Volunteer Parking Lot.

SPECTATOR PARKING

PUBLIC ADMISSIONS GATE

Gilbert Lake Road

On the east side of Gilbert Lake, just north of Maple Road, near the bridge of the North Course.

RIDESHARE + DROP-OFF

A designated general drop-off/pick-up location is available at Lot C – 3856 W. Maple. This location is a short 5-minute walk from the Public Spectator entrance. Rideshare services are also available for pickup/drop-off from Lot C.

CONSTRUCTION

Oakland Hills Country Club is delighted for you to witness this Championship set against the backdrop of our historic Next 100 Project. Construction of both our future Clubhouse and Greens & Grounds facilities is well underway. Although construction activity will be paused during the Championship, we ask that everyone proceed cautiously while moving around the property. Please follow any posted safety guidelines. Unauthorized entry inside the construction fencing is considered trespassing and is strictly prohibited.

STARTING TIMES + LIVE SCORING

Player pairing, starting times, and live scoring will be listed on the Championship website and official USGA App. We encourage you to download to the app to follow the latest updates in real time.

VOLUNTEERS

SHIFT SCHEDULE

The USGA has partnered with Trust Event software for volunteer registration and shift scheduling. Please access your shift schedule on the Trust Event portal. Please ensure that you are opted-in for text message communication. For questions or changes to your schedule, please contact your Committee Chair or email championships@oakland-hills.com.

UNIFORMS

Your volunteer package includes a premium U.S. Junior Amateur Championship polo and hat.

DURING SCHEDULED SHIFTS, VOLUNTEERS ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR:

• Your official volunteer light blue polo along with;

• Your choice of NAVY-colored shorts, pants, or skirt of appropriate length;

• Closed-toe shoes of any color;

• (OPTIONAL) You may choose to wear the included White Adjustable Hat or other 76th U.S. Junior Amateur Championship hat purchased in the Golf Shop; Hats of alternative style or featuring other logos are not permitted.

FOOTWEAR: If your position requires you to work on the golf course, please remember to wear a comfortable pair of walking shoes. Those with early morning shifts are encouraged to wear water proof/resistant footwear.

PREPARE FOR

WEATHER:

Both the North and South Courses offer limited shelter from summer weather. Please remember to wear sunscreen, stay hydrated, and bring rain gear for days when inclement weather is anticipated.

CHAIRS: Volunteers who are working in stationary positions on the golf course may bring small armless chairs/stools to utilize during their shifts. Please note that lawn chairs or folding chairs are prohibited on Championship grounds.

CREDENTIALS

You are required to always wear your volunteer credential badge while working your assigned shift. The badge will allow you access to proper areas around the Championship grounds. If you misplace your credential, please contact your Committee Chair.

VOLUNTEERS

VOLUNTEER CENTRAL + CHECK IN

Volunteer Central is in the Oakland Hills Country Club Athletics Complex adjacent to the Tennis Courts and accessed from Oakhills Drive.

HOURS:

Friday, July 19 - 8:00 a.m.

Saturday, July 22 through Saturday, July 27 - 5:30 a.m. until 30 minutes following completion of play every day (unless otherwise announced).

Volunteers should check-in at least 30 minutes before their shift starting time at the Volunteer Central, prior to reporting to their shift location. This will allow for time to collect any required equipment and report to shift locations. Additionally, volunteers will need to allocate 15-minutes for the shuttle ride from the volunteer parking lot.

VOLUNTEER MEAL VOUCHER

Oakland Hills will provide one (1) complimentary meal to volunteers for each shift worked. A meal ticket will be provided upon check-in. Additional food may be purchased at the concession areas.

VOLUNTEER ON-COURSE

TRANSPORTATION

While the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship is accessible to attendees of all ages and abilities, volunteers are prohibited from use of accessibility scooters or golf carts during their shifts. If you feel that you need additional time to report to your shift location on course, please check-in more than 30 minutes prior to your shift starting time. We appreciate your support of this policy.

RADIO CHANNELS

Push to talk radios will be provided for volunteer positions that require them. Radios will be distributed at Volunteer Central at the beginning of each shift and must be returned at the end of every shift. The channel list below indicates which committee is programmed to each channel. Your radio should always remain on your volunteer committee channel, unless in the event of an emergency.

COLLEGE COACH HEADQUARTERS

College Coaches Headquarters will be set up in the Oakland HillsPaddle Hut, located adjacent to the 1918 Pavilion/First Tee building. Players, caddies, spectators, and volunteers not assigned to the College Coach committee are not permitted in this area.

AUTOGRAPHS

A “no autograph” policy is in effect through the championship rounds. Volunteers and spectators should not approach a player f or an autograph from the time immediately preceding the player’s starting time up to, and including, the completion of his round. This includes any time when the player is at the practice range and practice green and enroute to the first tee.

PHOTOGRAPHY POLICY

Photography for personal use only is permitted on Championship grounds. Cameras and mobile devices must be always used in full-silent mode. At no time should a shutter noise be heard when capturing a photo or video.

Cameras must remain uncased at all times. Launching of drones/UAVs are strictly prohibited in all areas of Oakland Hills Country Club property.

Volunteers serving in close proximity to players competing on thecourse should prioritize their volunteer role and avoid any chance of distracting a player by capturing photos during their shot(s).

Credentialed members of the media and staff are permitted to photograph the Championship throughout the entire week.

INFORMATION

MOBILE PHONE POLICY

Spectators are permitted to carry mobile devices and use them for limited purposes on the Championship grounds, subject to the following restrictions:

• All device volume controls must be set to “silent” or “vibrate” at all times.

• Phone calls cannot be received or placed in any area that may disrupt play.

• Texting, email and the use of mobile applications are permissible throughout all areas of the golf course, but use should not disrupt players or produce sound.

RESTROOM FACILITIES

Restroom facilities will be located throughout the championship grounds. If you find a facility which needs attention, please alert your committee chair.

PRACTICE FACILITIES

Practice facilities will be available to players 6:00 a.m. –7:00 p.m. Only players, caddies, and a selection of tournament volunteers are permitted at the practice range or within the ropes of the putting greens and short game areas.

DISABLED SPECTATOR SERVICES

Oakland Hills Country Club and the USGA are committed to providing a positive user-friendly experience for all spectators with disabilities and are pleased to provide the following services:

• A limited number of motorized scooters will be available, on a first-come, first-served basis, for spectators with disabilities, complements of the USGA.

• The scooters will be distributed out of the Disabled Services area, which will be located near the First Tee building.

• To use the scooters, spectators will be required to complete a liability waiver.

LOST AND FOUND

Lost and Found will be located at the Golf Shop, located in the building near the South Course first tee.

MEDICAL AND FIRST AID

Medical Headquarters will be located near the North Shack on the North Course and South Shack on the South Course. This will be available 30 minutes prior to the first starting time and close approximately 30 minutes after the last group or pairing finishes.

GUEST SERVICES

A tent staffed by Oakland Hills member volunteers will be available starting Friday, July 19th through Championship week to help orient the players and families to the Club and local area. Upon request, guest service volunteers will provide a tour of the Club property once a player has completed registration.

WEATHER POLICY + COURSE EVACUATION

The USGA has a meteorologist on site monitoring the possibility of inclement weather. If inclement weather is approaching, the USGA will declare a suspension of play.

Upon warning, spectators are advised to take immediate precautions PRIOR to play being suspended. In the event of a weather warning, please avoid open areas, hilltops, high places, isolated trees, tall objects, golf carts, metal objects and wire fences.

If play is suspended for a dangerous situation, which will be indicated by one prolonged-horn blast, spectators should seek shelter by returning to their vehicles until play resumes.

Upon suspension, general volunteers should return to Volunteer Central and await further instruction. Volunteers assigned to walking scoring and standard bearers should stay with their grouping or pairing and follow separate evacuation procedures.

PROHIBITED ITEMS

Upon arrival either through the Spectator Entrance on Gilbert Lake Road for Spectators, or the Volunteer entrance on Oakhills Drive, security will be checking bags for prohibited items.

No food and/or beverages except for medical or infant needs

No lounge chairs and/or oversized chairs

No backpacks, briefcases, purses and/or bags larger than 6” W x 6” H x 6” D in their natural state

No signs, posters, banners and/or other sports paraphernalia or memorabilia

Water bottles (32-ounce size or less, no glass) are permitted provided they are empty upon arrival

No weapons (regardless of permit, including but not limited to firearms or knives)

Any attendee that is deemed by the USGA and/or Championship Security Personnel to be willfully attempting to conceal a prohibited item and enter the championship may result in immediate expulsion for the remainder of the Championship.
