Research Interests Substantive: political violence, insecurity, repression/state use of force against civilians and minority groups, civil resistance, terrorism/insurgency, discrimination Methodological: text-as-data, social network analysis, immersive fieldwork, statistical analysis, interviews, process tracing, "big data," online ethnography OR Lab: I run a hard-science style “research lab” which uses a team-based, multi-method approach to producing public-facing, grant funded basic research related to oppression and resistance. Research Products Working Book Manuscript "The Built Environment of Conflict," Emily K. Gade. Theorizes the impact of state built structures (checkpoints, prisons, guard towers, etc.) on civilian populations and the role they have in constructing state power, oppression of minority communities and influencing civilian resistance; evaluates with reference to the UK, USA, and Israel/Palestine.
