Archie Roach is Australia’s beloved, respected and admired Aboriginal singer/songwriter with a voice and sensibility that is this country’s most important song line. Archie captured our hearts and minds with “Charcoal Lane” and the landmark song “Took The Children Away”. In 2010 he lost his partner Ruby Hunter, he later suffered a stroke, and in 2011 he was diagnosed with the early stages of lung cancer. In the aftermath Archie has turned to joy and hope expressed in his brand new album Into The Bloodstream – and his life affirming live shows. Skin Choir compose and perform songs based around themes of cultural identity, mainstream stereotyping and urban living.

Eric Bogle is one of the most popular artists ever to appear at the festival and we’re ever so pleased that he has agreed to return to Brunswick in 2013 to help us celebrate our 25th Anniversary! To add to the occasion Eric will be bringing his full band, lead of course by his long time partner in crime John Munro on mandolin, guitar and vocals, Emma Luker on fiddle and Pete Titchener on electric bass. A literate and thoughtful songwriter who can cut to the heart of the matter with a well-crafted line, Eric Bogle is a warm and engaging stage performer with a sharp, often self-deprecating wit and shrewd, common sense worldview, drawing audiences into his performance.

Dougie MacLean is one of Scotland’s most successful, respected and popular musicians. A singer-songwriter, composer and ‘magical’ performer, he is also a fine guitarist and fiddle player. From his home base in Butterstone near Dunkeld in the beautiful Tay Valley in Perthshire Scotland, MacLean tours the world with his unique blend of lyrical, ‘roots based’ songwriting and instrumental composition. Born and brought up in Glasgow and spending part of her youth in the Outer Hebrides, Fiona Ross served her apprenticeship as a singer in Edinburgh’s vibrant song sessions of the 90’s. She has formed a wonderful musical partnership with Melbourne fiddle player, guitarist and singer Ken Maher.
