We take our breakfast very seriously at House Towers, as the famous quote goes; “Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper”, we certainly concur with the first part, start the day well and it’ll keep you fuelled all day long and ready for a hard day’s publishing! That said, we were delighted when resident café at Arena Business Centre in Poole, ‘Ocean Blue’ asked us to test drive their ‘Big breakfast’. Never one to turn down such an offer, we piled on in on a crisp Monday morning to sample the culinary delights of Kaz, Kim and Lesley at Ocean Blue. We struggled to make it upstairs to their seating area as our eyes caught sight of the delicious looking - and all home made – baked goods on display out front. Rocky Road, flapjacks, Mars bar rice crispy cakes, cookies and much more, all tempting us and I can personally recommend the Mars rice crispy cake, I shan't describe them as I think the name is enough to make your mouth water. On with breakfast and we were presented with the classic ‘big breakfast’ model, except with a few upgrades. Ocean Blue you see, is a bit different to other cafés of it’s ilk, they only use the highest quality, locally sourced meat and produce. This rare fact makes their breakfast truly fit for a king, with quality meaty sausages and flavoursome bacon accompanied by juicy tomatoes, beans with actual flavour, proper mushrooms (not tinned), perfectly fried hash browns and toast, all washed down with some strong, real coffee. I’m a self confessed coffee snob and can’t bear anything but good quality coffee, something their’s certainly is. So, bellies full, we trundled back to the office with one thought in mind, was that possibly the best breakfast in Dorset? Certainly our best so far.
