A PERFECTBALANCE
Throughout our High School years, Emanuel has provided us with numerous opportunities that encouraged us to participate in a range of different sports and hone our passions. During these years, we have taken part in the School’s sport teams including Football, Touch Football, Basketball and the EActive program. Through our involvement in these teams, Emanuel has helped progress and support our interests, meet new people and develop our leadership skills.
Sport at Emanuel provides an opportunity for everyone. Whether it’s to try a new sport, gain competitive experience or meet new people, participating in sport over the years has been a thoroughly rewarding and enjoyable experience. Emanuel continues to support and encourage all students to give new sports a go, as well as acknowledging the amazing achievements that students accomplish.
The School provides the perfect balance of sporting opportunities – the ability to pursue competitive pathways, as well as a strong emphasis on participation and stepping out of your comfort zone.
As we reached our senior years, this encouragement contributed to our participation in the Sport Va’ad, the main committee at Emanuel to run Inter-House activities for the rest of High School. As active members of the Sport Va’ad in 2022, we have had the opportunity to run a range of fun and competitive competitions between the Houses.
Lockdown didn’t hold the Sports Va’ad back, as we joined together to run the online Inter-House Olympics to motivate our peers during their time at home. Despite restrictions following the return to school, we managed to run an Inter-House dodgeball competition with the help of the younger Years, as they stepped up to referee games. Through this, we were able to contribute to our Year Group’s goal of creating a culture of leadership.
During our time on the Sports Va’ad, we were strongly supported, especially during the difficulties of lockdown. Ms Genc acted as a fantastic mentor and guide as we navigated the challenges of running and organising events. We are truly grateful for everything she has done. Without Emanuel and the opportunity to participate and lead on the sporting field, we wouldn’t be finishing school as confident young adults with a love for sport.
