ELS TURNED 20

President‘s Wor(l)d Dear members and friends! It took some time, but my batteries are fully charged again and the missing sleep is regained. For all those who were not able to come to Poznan I can tell that you missed a great event. On the one hand it was great to meet friends from all over Europe again and to remember old times, celebrate ELSA and live some new memorable moments. But it was also great to be close to ELSA again and have a look and an impression how ELSA is doing nowadays. More than 370 students were present to think, discuss and plan their activities and association. We saw that the association we once were responsible for is in good hands. The first milestone in the anniversary year is passed—from the perspective of ELS very successfully. About 150 alumni came to Poznan, starting from the early years of ELSA up to the generation of the last years. The publication ELS presented, which was made with help of many ELS members, was very well accepted. I have to mention here, that all contributions, in writing and the sponsors, came exclusively from ELS and alumni of ELSA. Thank you for that! The anniversary year is not done yet. Many national and local groups celebrate this year, many groups have their own anniversaries as well. The next possibilities to meet for ELS members are the transition BBQ in Brussels (9./10.7.—the BBQ is Sunday evening) and the ICM and assembly meeting of ELS in Palermo (23.-30.10). I am looking forward to meet you there ... Robert

Thank you ... A successful event like the anniversary celebration is only possible, because a lot of individual persons dedicate their time, resources and—last but not least—their heart to the event. Because of those individuals we could celebrate the event and the parties. The first persons I have to mention are the members of ELSA Poznan and Poland who organised the event for us. In particular I want to highlight from a great team the head of the OC Malwina Grzybowska and Ania Napierala. We are aware that alumni are not always easy to handle, but you managed in the best possible way. Talking about ELSA we are strongly supported by Laura Schmitt, the director for alumni of ELSA International. We were missing her at the event, but she was not able to come. Thanks also to Kim-Julia Zamljen, the director for anniversary of ELSA and the International Board of ELSA.

I think you all felt well looked after by Johanna Kauppinen. Besides taking care of you participants, she also took care of the fundraising for the publication, the tabula gratulatoria and many many other things. The OC was supported by our second director for the anniversary Ania Ziemnicka. She was in contact with OC and giving them a helping hand. Pierangelo Graziani was not only organising the scholarship programme, but also supporting the OC as an ITP trainer and was in contact with the OC during the preparation of the event.

Claudius Krucker was taking care of the layout of the publication and our marketing. I am sure you have seen the cool roll-up we have now. Finally—last but not least—the SecGen Arabela Trifoi was next to her regular tasks proofreading the publication, taking care with Johanna of the presents and supporting the president (including the most important coffee of this year). Thanks to all of you

Secretary General Arabela Trifoi

At the time of the anniversary ELS has 58 lifetime members. Thanks a lot for believing in the association! • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •
