anet Mardenborough ’73 was the inspiration for Jamie Forhan’s decision to bequeath a substantial portion of his estate to Elms. Janet and Jamie met when
she was a senior at Elms and he was a student at the University of Massachusetts at
Amherst. Janet, an English major, loved Elms, he says, and until her untimely death in 1973, she was poised to begin a career as a school teacher. “She could not have had a better college experience,” says Jamie. New Programs Elms College remains responsive to the educational needs demonstrated in our community. Last fall, for example, we added a master’s degree program in autism spectrum disorders (ASD) in response to an unprecedented increase in the diagnosis of ASD, and a lack of professionals trained in its treatment. This followed the implementation of a new master’s degree program in nursing, designed to respond to the local shortage of nurses and nurse educators. College of Our Lady of the Elms
