SKI BINDINGS Choosing bindings needn’t be a difficult task and to make it simple we’ve selected a range of the very best options, covering various budgets and abilities, and added some key information to help you select exactly the right model. All the bindings on these pages take standard Alpine ski boot soles, some will also accommodate other boot sole ‘standards’ such as WTR, Grip-Walk and Tour. For our full range of Backcountry bindings please refer to page 240

Weight - Measured in grams, and shown for a pair of bindings. Heavier bindings will contain more metal components, making them stronger and better able to handle more demanding skiing and environments.

DIN - Relates to the binding release force settings (meeting DIN ISO standards) and the range of values on a particular model. The lower the number the easier the binding will release the ski boot. Your personal DIN setting relates to age, height, weight, ability and length of ski boot, this will be calculated by a technician. Ideally your personal DIN will be somewhere in the middle of the binding DIN range.

Brake - The width of the brakes determines what size ski waist the binding will fit on. The brake on your binding needs to be wider than the width of the ski measured at the waist, at the same time you do not want too much extra brake width as it may catch on the snow/terrain when retracted. Different sized brakes are available to buy to fit with the various models should a particular binding/ski combination not initially seem compatible.
