10-57 Eliza Tinsley have led the market in field gate fittings for over 50 years. We take great pride in our products and are confident that will continue to perform long after other brands will have needed replacement. Careful control of the manufacturing process is key to their outstanding durability. The quality of the steel used, the penetration of the welds and the thickness of the protective paint or Zinc galvanized layer are just a few of the areas that are rigidly monitored to ensure that the product you receive is as good as it can be.
STRAPS, BANDS AND GATE EYES
Gate furniture can be purchased in three different finishes:
These are used as the ‘swinging’ part of the hinge. The choice between them is determined by the gate type (wood or metal) and the size of the gate (larger gates require longer straps).
Galvanised This has outstanding corrosion protection and can be counted on to last for many years. This is the standard finish for all agricultural uses.
Black These are mainly purchased for domestic use. Although their corrosion properties are slightly poorer than galvanised finishes, black finished fittings are widely purchased because of their high quality and smart appearance.
Self Colour These products are unfinished - they are the colour of the base material (usually steel). They are usually used in situations where either the final surface finish of the gate is not applied until after the gate eyes have been attached, or if the gate is sprayed a none standard colour. For this reason, this finish is frequently found on products which are attached by welding.
Double Strap bands These are usually used on wooden field gates. The double strap offers greater support for a wider gate as it grips on both sides. When using double strap bands, a longer strap is used for the top fitting than the bottom.
Single Gate Bands These can be used to suspend field gates, but are more usually used on doors where a more flush fitting is needed - such as stable doors. The design allows the edge of the gate or door to fit snugly against the post or door jam.

GATE HOOKS Gate Eyes to Bolt These are usually used with metal gates, and are bolted through the side of the gate
These are used as the ‘fixed’ end of the hinge and are attached to the gate support. They come in several different shapes and sizes - the choice of which is usualy dictated by the type of gate support (brick, wood, metal etc) and the size of the gate to be hung.
Gate Eyes to Weld These are used with metal gates and are welded to the side of the gate.
Hook To Bolt Heavy duty solution, frequently used as the top hook - as the bolt and washer prevents it pulling out, but allows adjustment. Commonly used in conjunction with a hook to drive as the bottom hook. Usually used with wooden gate posts, but could be used with a concrete post.
Hook to Drive Fitted by drilling a hole just smaller than the smallest side of the shank. The hook is then hammered home. This is usually used as a bottom hook. If used as a top hook, the weight of the gate can pull the hook outwards overtime - causing the gate to sag. The hook to drive looks particlarly elegant, as only the minimum amount of iron work can be seen. Used with wooden posts.
Gate Hanger on 4” Plate This gate hanger can be bolted to any surface. It is widely used as it is relatively neat and is simple to fit.
