CLIFTON LIBRARY 10 WEEKS| AUTOCAD& HAND RENDERING

Set

Clifton Neighborhood of Cincinnati, this project was to be a 25,000 sqft innovative library for young adults in the community. Students were to create a dynamic library that featured a special program space, dealt with real world code and ADA compliance practices, and created a space that could cope with the changing needs of physical libraries in today’s digital age. in

This library would serve the Clifton community as a space that would inspire creativity, drive innovation, and promote the gathering of ideas and people. Inspired by an engine, this young adult library uses the different spaces within to promote the interaction of ideas and spark creativity.

The

complex form of the exterior contrasted by the simple cube shape represents

how the simplest ideas can be ignited and turned into something much greater. In order to

emphasis the need for innovation, this library possesses a special feature robotics lab. This space

would offer educational classes for the community on designing, building, and coding robots.

PERSONAL PROJECTS These

Varying timeframes |Sketchup & Podium

quick personal rendering projects took inspiration from some

of my favorite places on my recent travels

(A

few of these projects

were even completed while waiting in dreaded airport terminals). These projects range from charming restaurants and bars to cozy residential spaces.

They specifically draw inspiration from the beautiful cities Barcelona, Miami, and Atlanta, turn the page and get ready for adventure!

MUQARNAS VAULTS 3 WEEKS| RHINO & WOOD WORKING

Marhaba! During

this three week study, this geometry focused

studio explored the wonders and intricate complexities of Islamic tiling and architectural details.

This

studio required us in pairs,

to investigate historical precedents across the middle east and

europe, in order to create our own wood crafted muqarnas.

FINAL TILING

PROCESS TILINGS

MUQARNAS PROCESS This complex project begins two dimensionally in Rhino as a tiling. Our final tiling (Left) features a variety of shapes: triangles, squares, rhombi, and parallelograms to create its final 2d layout. In order to construct it three dimensionally, these shapes are then extruded into 3D prisms, and arcs are

subtracted from the tops and bottoms of

the forms.

To bring the muqarnas to the real world, my partner and i first used the table saw to cut out and gluelam panels of

pine together, this created the “prisms mentioned previously. We then

built various wood jigs to help us cut out the arcs from the prisms on the bandsaw. We

then repeated this process for all

200+ pieces and

assembled with wood

glue and wood filler.

(see next page)

3d Rhino model was completed by Eric Geraci.
