PIERRE LOCKET Executive Director Forward Momentum Chicago

Pierre is a passionate arts advocate and has been bringing dance education programs to Chicago area schools and communities since 1996. Having a professional dance career spanning over 20 years at The Joffrey Ballet and Dance Theatre of Harlem, he understands firsthand the powerful impact that the arts play in a child’s development. Through Forward Momentum Chicago, Mr. Lockett combines his passion and expertise for dance with his desire to inspire youth through invigorating dance programs. He is excited to share his love for dance with Chicago youth and is committed to nurturing the next generation of talented young dancers.

In- and out-of-school Creative Schools Fund After School Matters Saturday Classes Summer Dance Camp While keeping our mission to provide high quality dance education in mind, each program structure is designed to hone in on the specific needs of your school and/or community. Within each of these structures we offer a variety of dance styles such as Ballet, Latin, Creative Movement, African, Hip-Hop, and Modern/Contemporary. These styles are tailored according to age and ability. In addition, we offer the ability to collaborate on designing custom classes and programs to achieve your desired goals and outcomes. Experience the energy and excitement of West and South African dance. Travel to Ghana, Senegal, and South Africa as they dance their way across the continent. Bring light to your colorful moves!

AFRICAN

Journey to France and learn the rich history of ballet and dance in King Louis XIV's court. Students gain traditional ballet technique and develop a solid foundation of dance fundamentals. Move and groove through Creative Movement where beginners learn the basic motions of the body.

BALLET / CREATIVE MOVEMENT

Designed to fit your students' needs, personalities, and strengths! Experience dances of yesterday and today including Locking, Popping, and other popular dances from the 80’s, 90’s, and 2000’s. Let’s get moving!

HIP HOP

Dance through vibrant Latin culture and learn exciting techniques that will spice up the stage! Students get to explore movements such as the Cha Cha, Mambo, Merengue, Salsa, Bachata, and Cumbia! Get ready to join the fun!

FMC remains committed to providing quality dance education to Chicago's youth. We are a certified remote learning partner with Chicago Public Schools and will be offering online and in-person in-school and out-of-school classes in the fall. FMC has been preparing for remote learning by providing online programs over the past year for students of all ages and abilities. We are ready to face the technology barriers and determined to bring an unforgettable dance experience to your students.
