PRESIDENT

We’re in full swing this year at the Clayton Chamber of Commerce. I am eager for the opportunity to engage with our members as we bring back our popular in-person annual events, such as the Business Awards Dinner, Best of Clayton Business Marketplace and so many others. We are also continuing our education series covering strategic topics to enhance your business through panel discussions and presentations. We will continue to evaluate new opportunities to host happy hours, luncheons and additional events tailored to expand our members’ engagement. Relationships are built on a foundation and the Clayton Chamber of Commerce is proud to be that foundation for all of our members.

I encourage you to check out the Chamber weekly email updates and website for upcoming events and sponsorship opportunities. I am particularly looking forward to our Lunch with a Leader series which will provide direct engagement with leaders throughout St. Louis that are enhancing our community. Please don’t hesitate to contact our Executive Director, Ellen Gale, (egale@claytoncommerce.com) should you have any questions. This is the year to engage and reconnect with our community. I am so happy you chose to utilize the Clayton Chamber of Commerce as your foundation to build upon. Sincerely, Brad McLaury 2022 President

Letter from the

MAYOR

I am honored to have the opportunity to write to you, the members of the Clayton Chamber. The City of Clayton highly values all businesses, from our robust corporate community to our many unique small shops and service providers. In addition to ensuring a strong economic future, business leaders’ shared insights and expertise help our community in many ways. Over the last several years we have seen unprecedented growth in our downtown, and that growth continues. In total, we have seen nearly $600,000,000 invested in commercial development projects, delivering over 2,000 workers, and more than 800 new residents. Against this backdrop of vibrancy, Clayton has and will continue to provide our most popular events like the Wine & Music Festival, the Chapman Concert Series, and the Clayton Jazz Festival. In addition, we collaborate with many special partners to deliver events like the nationally renowned Art Fair and the very popular Parties in the Park. My message would not be complete without mentioning the continued, albeit lessoned, presence of the pandemic. The past 2 years have impacted our business community greatly, and we are hopeful of the community’s speedy recovery. While it looks like an improved economic situation for the city in the coming year, the city was impacted as well, and we must find new ways to meet the financial challenges that still exist. Lastly, I want to reassure you that Clayton remains a strong regional player, striving to bring continued growth to our city. With collaborative partners at key institutions

and businesses, we will also work to do our part in the areas of regionalism, sustainability, and equity. Why are we working so hard to keep improving a place that is already pretty great? Cities that don’t change with the needs of residents and businesses can fall behind. We believe that cities are about people, and strong cities are places where people want to be. I assure you that as we embrace growth and change, Clayton, the region’s second downtown and heart of county government, is and will remain a place where people want to be. Michelle Harris Mayor of Clayton
