Alla forma affermativa si usa per indicare un obbligo o una necessità ed è spesso intercambiabile con must.

! Alla forma negativa, invece, ha un significato diverso da mustn’t e si usa per indicare che non è necessario o non è obbligatorio fare qualcosa. In Italy students don’t have to wear school uniforms. In Italia gli studenti non devono (non sono obbligati a) portare la divisa.
