I verbi irregolari non prendono la desinenza -ed, ma hanno forme proprie per il Past simple e per il participio passato. (vedi elenco dei principali verbi irregolari all’interno della copertina del tuo Personal Toolkit). Per alcuni verbi il Past simple è uguale alla forma base (*); in alcuni casi ha la stessa grafia, ma pronuncia diversa (**). Il Past simple dei verbi irregolari, come quello dei regolari, ha la stessa forma per tutte le persone. ! Soltanto il verbo be ha due forme, was e were (vedi Be - Past simple pagine 53-54).
