Some e any indicano una quantità indeterminata. Si usano con i sostantivi non numerabili e con i sostantivi numerabili al plurale. Corrispondono a qualche, un po’, alcuno/i, del, dello/a, dei, degli , delle.
Per indicare se qualcuno / qualcosa c’è o non c’è, si usano there is per il singolare e there are per il plurale. Le forme interrogativa e negativa seguono le stesse regole del verbo be. (vedi Be - Present Simple pagine 5-8)
Some si usa nelle frasi affermative e nelle domande che si fanno per offrire o richiedere qualcosa. Any si usa nelle frasi interrogative e negative.
Poiché i sostantivi possono essere numerabili o non numerabili, there is e there are si usano, a seconda dei casi, con gli articoli a / an, con gli indefiniti some / any, oppure con i numeri.
Nelle frasi negative si può usare anche no con il verbo affermativo. There are no eggs. Non ci sono uova.
Forma affermativa ( )
Quando precedono un sostantivo, some e any sono aggettivi indefiniti. Sono pronomi indefiniti quando non c’è il sostantivo. In questo caso corrispondono all’italiano ne.
There is a desk. There isn’t a cinema. There is an armchair. There isn’t an apple. There are some boys. There aren’t any eggs. There are no eggs.
Have you got any new CDs? Hai dei CD nuovi?
