CONTEMPORARY ART CENTER Alsancak, Ä°zmir 2019 (Fourth Year Project)

The aim is to design an Art Center which should be a cultural place that includes a variety of indoor and outdoor programs such as exhibition spaces, workshop spaces, production workshops and artists’ dormitories. The design proposal should combine traditional art, such as painting and sculpture, with new forms of contemporary art, such as digital arts. Visitors are expected to question different spatial requirements against traditional arts in order to exhibit traditional arts based on their perceptions and experiences. The desire is to establish a dialogue between traditional and new. The Arts Center, which brings together society, artists, the creative sector and investors, is expected to become a meeting point. This project experimented with design strategies and analyzed the relationship between the defined strategy and the creation of a complex architectural space.

POSITIONING DIAGRAM

This project aimed to get people from all four corners of project site into the building and determined the strategy accordingly and positioned it in that way.

The building is designed a tie-bar-less space where people can intuitively use the space and allowed a single surface to expand without detaching, and the walls turned into flooring. This large free-form sculptural element integrates load-bearing support, vertical connections and wayfinding.

LIBRARY IN SOMA Soma, Manisa. 2019 (Third Year Project)

A building in the master plan designed in the previous project was selected and designed as a library. The idea of this library is that people walk around the building. Thanks to the ramps, they pushs people inside the building and encourages them to go up. I offer the transition alternatives to people from the square by preserving the passage we think of in the Master Plan idea. I defined the spaces by separating the functions of the building with the level differences and the areas inside the building without using a wall, using a variety of reagents. I designed roof fringes and sun breakers from the Soma collage that I did before to break the sun from the southern façade. I used reinforced concrete for basement and steel structure for the upper floors. I designed terraces above the ramps and made open spaces. I tried to increase the space quality by encouraging people to see each other by creating gaps in the gallery. I wanted to emphasize the library as public by designing all my facades. I’ve interacted with the slabs according to their functions.

RURAL STUDIO Barbaros, Izmir 2018

(Third Year Project)

The strategy is to reinforce the rural site characteristics without damaging it. Architecture’s most important goal is to be able to adapt in a correct way to the surrounding and its neccesities. With the rural studio, it created a solution for this goal by providing a transition between the rural environment where the studio is located in. This rural studio includes studios, exhition hall, cafeteria, library and lodging for guests. A roof designed like a shell following the road from the square.

ROOF GARDEN DESIGN Balรงova, Izmir 2019 (Fourth Year Project)

I chose Introduction to Contemporary Landscape as an elective course. In this course, we had to choose a field to redesign as a project. I chose the unused roof terrace of the Izmir Universityof Economics.Plants were selected according to their location and function. I divided the terrace according to function by separating it into 3 levels. Thanks to the grill at the entrance, I made a more ecological approach by using rainwater in the ornamental pool and garden irrigation.

In this project, the unused terrace of the Izmir Universıty of Economics’ has been redesigned.
