Business Welcome Lunch
After the official welcome & orientation by the international area of CSI (Center for Global Engagement), the Business Department will present how business is run in NY after welcome lunch.
Business English
English program with ELI teachers, especially designed with academic purposes (finance, int’l business, management, etc.). This will focus on content-based English grammar, speaking, reading, and vocabulary exercises. Content can be adapted to other business fields upon requests.
Lectures
Topics will be: Innovation with Incubators (CSI Tech Incubator), Entrepreneurship with Quality, Strategic Management, and Digital Marketing (School of Business).
Company visits
Tours
Two main institutions or company visits with briefings depending on availability. These could be: CSI Tech Incubator, Vietnamese Consulate in NY, the Federal Reserve Bank of NY, among others. Students will take the hop on/off tour bus around Manhattan. They will see Times Square, the Empire

Itinerary - Description of each activity The following describes the details of each activity during the program. CSI Welcome
CSI welcomes the group at the airport in New York, which is suggested at the Newark Airport (EWR). The transportation will be in charge of CSI. A CSI representative will wait for the group at the airport and the group will be taken to the CSI Student residence. The welcome session will be hosted by the English Language Institute (ELI), which belongs to the CSI international area (Center for Global Engagement). A welcome lunch is hosted on campus followed by an orientation session and a campus tour.
CSI Student residence
The group will stay at the CSI Student residence called Dolphin Cove Student Housing. The students will stay at double-room apartments. Each room has two beds. The apartment includes shared bathroom, kitchen, and a small living room. Dolphin Cove provides linens, a small towel, and travel soap. The residence includes WiFi, 24-hour gym, and a lounge. Laundry is available for US$ 1.25 per load.
English classes
English classes for this group are Business English sessions in charge of the English Language Institute (ELI). The students will have different schedules according to each extra activity. Classes are on campus. Levels will be determined based on total number of students, placement test, or required level. ELI reserves the right to offer one level if group does not meet the minimum number of students. This program includes an English book. Class material will be handed during class. The content is related to Business, management, International Business, finance, marketing, and similar topics (unless the group has a different major, which may be adjusted to the group’s interest or knowledge). Classes will include vocabulary, conversation, language functions, etc.
Times Square
Times Square is the tourist landmark of NYC. Its iconic panels and billboards lighten the place making the place look like daytime during the night. You can visit companies and stores as well as tourist places like the Disney Store, Microsoft, M&M, Macy’s, the Radio City Music Hall, Broadway theaters, the Grand Central Terminal, the Wax Museum, the Madison Square Garden, etc.
United Nations
The group will visit the United Nations Headquarters in Manhattan. Students will tour the facilities having the chance to see live diplomatic sessions and meetings. Students will learn about how this important institution is in charge of seeking world peace and consensus among all the countries around the world.
Consulate of Vietnam in NY
The students will have a meeting with authorities at the Consulate of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in New York., where they will learn how the Vietnamese consulate helps other Vietnamese nationals through diplomatic, business, cultural, and educational relations.
Tech Incubator
The program includes one visit to the CSI Tech Incubator, which fosters the community seeking to grow their startups through a technological ecosystem with mentors, faculty, sponsors, and government leaders. The CSI Tech Incubator partners with IBM, Intel, AT&T, Wolfram, NYC Tech + Innovation, SI Chamber of Commerce, Amazon Web Services, among others.
Company visits
Students will visit some companies located in NYC (Manhattan, Staten Island, or other boroughs) with brief meetings or sessions where representatives will have a chance to talk with students about how the company develops its business. The students will have a great chance to ask questions and learn about the opportunities they may have when developing their career. According to availability, the companies are subject to change for similar institutions.
Federal Reserve Bank of NY
The Federal Reserve bank of NY is part of the federal reserve system of the United States and other public and private institutions that promote the financial security for the financial and economic system in the country. Students will learn about the monetary policies, bank institution regulations, monetary elasticity, and other federal financial operations.
NY Sightseeing
CitySights NY is one of the largest tourism companies in the city. They not only offer bus tours but also helicopter and ferry tours, ticketing for theaters, museums, ski activities, bicycle tours, etc. Students will learn how this big company operates for a city that welcomes more than 60 million of tourists every year.
Empire State Building
The Empire State Building is one of the tallest buildings in NY. Students will take the elevator to the 86th floor and enjoy its 360 degree observatory and see the entire city. Part of the program includes the NY City Pass to freely access this building.
Statue of Liberty
Students will take the Staten Island Ferry and a second ferry from Manhattan to enjoy this iconic landmark. They will stop at Ellis Island and learn about the immigration in the United States.
Wall Street
The group will walk around Wall Street where they will see the NY Stock Exchange and the financial area of the city. The area is a must to see the World Trade Center, the Wall Street bull and the new Fearless Girl, and observe the high-rise buildings where many local, national and international headquarters are located.
9/11 Museum
The 9/11 Memorial Museum was built after the tragic attack to the Twin Towers in Manhattan. Inside the museum, the students will learn about the meaning of this attack, the financial importance that these buildings had, the rescue efforts in the aftermath, the reconstruction of the area, and more.
Brooklyn Bridge
The Brooklyn Bridge is an iconic symbol of the mega constructions in the city as well as its historical importance. Students will walk over the bridge from Manhattan to Brooklyn where they will be able to see amazing skylines and views of Manhattan.
NY City Pass
The NY City Pass will let the students choose more free attractions on their free time: the American Museum of Natural History, the Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met), the Top of the Rock Observation Deck, the Guggenheim Museum, the Circle Line Sightseeing Cruises, or the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum.
Departure
The program includes transportation from Staten Island to the airport for the entire group.

Dates and fees - 2018 Classes offered: Reading/Writing, Grammar, Communications, and TOEFL Workshops. All levels of English are taught with an emphasis on American culture. TOEFL Workshop classes are included in the price of the Spring, summer and Fall sessions and are also offered separately except for evening classes. They are specifically designed to enhance test-taking strategies for the TOEFL, ACT, and CATW exams. TOEFL test is included in fee and administered only at the end of each semester/summer term.
