365 DAYS for the Basque Language Because the Basque language is not a matter of one day 1. It is hard to believe that the Basque language and the Basque people have not disappeared, as well as other thousands of languages, and that should be celebrated. 2. The language makes us Basques, and, consequently, it is logical that the future of the Basques is inevitably linked to the Basque language. 3. Today we celebrate the International Day of the Basque language, but for us yesterday and also tomorrow should be the day of the Basque language. 4. But today is also a day of commitment. To be basque, here and now, demands a commitment, and we are ready to accept it 5. They are personal commitments that each one of us will assume, but also there are collective commitments, which we accept as a group or community 6. Often it is not easy to be Basque, but for us, to make basque Elgoibar is an attractive challenge, even knowing the difficult of the project. 7. In the future there will be many communities and languages around us. Our hearts and the ones of our people will be opened to all them, and from all them we will receive and learn something. But we want to be Basques., and we want it because we, the Basques, are from here, and because this is the Country of the Basque language and of the Basque speaking people, and, if it is not here, in nowhere else we will be able to be and live as basque people. We do it mainly for us, for the Country of the Basque language, but also for all similar countries. What we intend to achieve, is for the benefit of most of communities and countries.
