Coffee Table

Over summer break after my first year in DAAP, my roommate and I needed a coffee table. Instead of buying one, I decided to utilize my own materials to create one. These materials include leftover pine wood from the Folly project, an old 10 gallon aquarium, and two pieces of glass. The only things that I had to buy were a wood burning kit, and wood stain (which I would continue to use for other projects).

Hardin Memorial

Overall plan, with furniture

Overall plan, no furniture

For this assignment at GBBN Architects, I converted a Revit model into a SketchUp file, then rendered the space. We helped our clients at Hardin Memorial Hospital to better understand their new emergency department. Once I had the space rendered, I exported a walk-through video for them to really experience the space.. Watch a walkthrough video on my website here: tinyurl.com/gmp4qcq

Parametric Design

In groups of three, we were to use the grasshopper plugin in Rhino to create a parametric design which would then be laser cut into a material of our choice. These designs would then be installed onto a structure fabricated by graduate students. My group and I decided to extrude the stars out for enhanced aesthetic. The laser cut base material was chipboard, spray painted black, and the extrusions were laser cut museum board, folded and applied seperately.

Tri-Healt h

My task in this project for Tri-Health Group Health with GBBN Architects was to provide different design options for their waiting room. The client would then ultimately choose which option would work best for them. Since the client was having trouble imagining these options in a 2D plan view, I used a SketchUp rendering to help them better visualize the setting.
