Dear Parents, Thank you for your support of your child as they seek to develop their inquiries during Home Learning. Home Learning in Year 6 will be scaffolded using the inquiry cycle below.

Initially students will Engage with a question or provocation that will be posted on the classroom blog. There will be discussion within the classroom. Students will be asked to respond on the classroom blog at school and/or at home. They will be encouraged to respond or build on other students posts.

Next is the Investigate stage. This stage involves the students going deeper (finding research, asking questions of others) to develop a broader understanding of the question. Student research is posted on their personal blogs as one post. Classroom teachers will ‘check in’ on students blogs to ensure that students are completing this section.

Following the investigation stage students Act, respond to their research in a particular way. Their action may take the form of a model, song, iPad presentation, written piece or another presentation form.

In class students will then Discuss and Rethink on their findings. At this stage students will likely comment on others contributions and ask questions. These questions may then lead to further inquiries.

Learning Logs will be posted on a Monday and will be due the Wednesday of the following week. Please feel free to contact your child’s homeroom teacher if you have any questions. The Year 6 Teaching Team
