Quality Activities for Infant & Toddler Care The Hillsborough Infant & Toddler Initiative, an ELCHC led program, provides resources to strengthen the quality of infant and toddler care in Hillsborough County. Participating childcare programs have access to coaching, technical assistance, professional development, and classroom materials. The focus of the Initiative is to encourage providers to serve more infant and toddlers while enhancing the quality of care within these programs. During the 2020-2021 fiscal year the Hillsborough Infant & Toddler Initiative was comprised of two sub-programs one solely sponsored by ELC School Readiness funds to target high-needs zip codes located predominately in the city of Tampa and a second funded by a grant from Hillsborough County Affordable Housing Services that targeted unincorporated Hillsborough County which included zip codes outside of the City of Tampa. The 2020-2021 fiscal year marked the second year of the Initiative’s focus on providing coaching, technical assistance, program improvements, professional development opportunities for teachers and directors, classroom materials for indoor and outdoor experiences for infants and toddlers, increase families access to quality infant/toddler care by creating more slots within those programs for children birth to 36 months and increase family knowledge of infant/toddler development by conducting family engagement activities and the opportunity to participate in the “Anytime is 3T’s Time”, a project supported by PNC Bank, to improve parents awareness of strategies to foster their child’s learning through ordinary daily interactions at home.
