building relationships, providing support, and caring not only about student success, but also about each student and staff member.

Each

week, Mr. Jones celebrates members of the staff who have demonstrated a strong commitment to Souder. In addition, he also celebrates the successes of our students through recognition, praise and rewards. This past week, students were excited to receive a bag of goodies from Mr. Jones for the growth they showed on the reading checkpoint.

It was the

highlight of their week, and students are now looking forward to meeting the next challenge. These past few months, Mr. Jones has been a positive influence at Souder, and we are excited about the future of our students.

Our new vice-principal, Mrs. Sterrett, has proven her commitment to the success of Souder students. She strives daily to build relationships to create a positive environment where each student feels valued. She communicates values, character, and responsibility to the students of Souder. Teachers sincerely appreciate the support and positive attitude she constantly exhibits. Her passion for our students and her strong commitment to excellence is cultivating our leaders of tomorrow. Mrs. Sterrett has implemented a new program called Souder Leaders where students are assigned responsibilities to assist the leadership at Souder. Students are excited about helping while they are learning about the importance of responsibility and leadership. When these students walk through the hallways, carrying out their assigned duty, there is a look of pride and confidence on their faces. We are thankful for the positive influence Mrs. Sterrett is making in the lives of our students at Souder. During the last few months, Mr. Jones and Mrs. Sterrett, have continually strived to build relationships and create an environment that strengthens our school community. We are grateful for our leaders today and for the students who are being inspired and trained to be the great leaders of tomorrow.

DAN POWELL INTERMEDIATE BY: URIEL URANGA Student Success is very important at Dan Powell! This year, we have implemented two initiatives (PBIS and AVID) that will not only benefit the students now, but will also impact them in their educational future.

Another SUCCESSFUL Pine Cove trip is in the books for Dan Powell!

Making Moves: Year in Review With the first semester of 2018-2019 winding down, the holiday season and a new year are at our doorsteps. It is only natural to be reflective of all that our students have accomplished so far this year.

As 2018 comes to an end,

the staff at Johnson 6th is even more purposeful with teaching and learning. December is a short but dynamic month for our campus. We have assessments to help us prepare for 2019, we are reviewing strategies and approaches and we are making plans for how we will give more to our students each day. In the remaining 19 days of instruction before 2018 is a memory, our teachers and staff are continuously reaching to give our 6th grade students the very best learning opportunities while exposing them to new experiences. Our students have progressed tremendously and we are proud of their accomplishments. They have actively participated in science labs, learned many new concepts in math and ELA and discovered cultures, places, and people from around the world and in their community. They are growing into young people that will make Everman ISD and our community proud! However, of all the learning that has taken place with our 6th graders, the perspective I hope they received after these past months at Johnson 6th is the knowledge that they possess within themselves many talents and gifts. All achievement starts with a
