JEAN SHAFIROFF

THE CELEBRITY PHILANTHROPIST

KNOWN AS THE FIRST LADY OF PHILANTHROPY

Embracing the spirit of philanthropy with strength, power, and grace, celebrity philanthropist Jean Shafiroff is steadily motivating people worldwide to become involved in philanthropy. Often referred to as the “First Lady of Philanthropy,” Jean is called this for good reason. A leading philanthropist, TV host, and the author of “Successful Philanthropy: How To Make a Life By What You Give,” Jean is known to be a hard worker who advocates tirelessly for a myriad of causes. Jean Shafiroff is most often associated with leading causes

that define the key challenges of our times: health care, helping underserved populations, women’s rights, and animal rights. In addition, she finds the time and passion to stand up for the LGBTQ community, the arts, the environment, and young emerging fashion designers.

Where does this elegant and magnetic force of positive energy derive her inspiration? One only needs to look back into her 12 years of Catholic school education, where the nuns taught her to care for the less fortunate.

Jean Shafiroff’s father was a music teacher and a great role model, always emphasizing the value of education and the need to help the underserved. Her mother was a volunteer at her schools and church. She encouraged her daughter to engage in similar work.

During her college career at Columbia University, Jean Shafiroff earned a B.S. in physical therapy and then an MBA in finance at the Graduate School of Business at Columbia University. From helping people with serious illnesses as

“I only want to do the best job I can for the different causes that I am involved with. Philanthropy is my passion. I plan to continue my philanthropic work for the rest of my life.”

a physical therapist at a New York City hospital to a career as an investment banker on Wall Street, Shafiroff developed a strong desire to share her diverse knowledge and insights with those in need. Her work on Wall Street was invaluable training for her philanthropic board and volunteer fundraising work.

“I only want to do the best job I can for the different causes that I am involved with,” Jean says. “Philanthropy is my passion. I plan to continue my philanthropic work for the rest of my life.”

As the author of “Successful Philanthropy: How to Make a Life by What You Give,” Shafiroff asserts that anyone can be a philanthropist. It is defined by the power of giving back. She suggests you can give your time and knowledge. She also strongly believes that those who have resources have a responsibility to contribute financially to causes in need.

Jean Shafiroff has derived great satisfaction through helping others.

She encourages all in her large network of friends and colleagues to join her in contributing to worthy causes. “The joy of giving is far greater than the joy of receiving,” she says. It is a message she brings to her writings, her work, and to her life. Her larger goal is to inspire future generations to see philanthropy in the broad ways she has defined the paths available for people of all socioeconomic levels to help make positive changes in the world.

“I dream of the day when all people will have the opportunity to receive a good quality education, as I did, and improve the condition of their lives and that of their families,” says Shafiroff.

Jean Shafiroff currently serves on seven charity boards, one honorary board, one advisory board, and as an honorary trustee of a tenth board. Each year, she chairs between eight and ten large fundraising galas. In addition, she organizes, hosts, and underwrites many large events in her homes and elsewhere for different charitable causes. This past year she served as the chairperson of

several charity events for causes based in the Hamptons, New York City, and for international charities. She also hosted and underwrote large parties in her Southampton home and New York City home for numerous international, national, and local causes. Most recently, she has gotten involved in the Palm Beaches, where she recently purchased a home.

Jean Shafiroff serves on the boards of the Southampton Hospital Foundation, the New York Women’s Foundation, the Mission Society of New York City, Casita Maria, the Couture Council of the Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology, the French Heritage Society, Global Strays, the Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation Honorary Board, and the Advisory Board of the Historical Society of Palm Beach County. As a Catholic, she also served on the board of the Jewish Board, a large mental health charity, for 28 years and is now an honorary trustee. During the pandemic, Jean Shafiroff served as the national spokesperson for the American Humane’s Feed the Hungry COVID-19

An avid fashion lover, Jean Shafiroff supports many young designers by helping them build their careers. Her passion for style and fashion is evident in how she dresses and how she supports the industry. She is a fashion icon — and a woman who has been on many Best Dressed lists. Jean explains that fashion is a great art form. As a longtime board member of the Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology, she wholeheartedly supports their work and the college affiliated with it. Jean has a large ball gown collection that includes many pieces from designers such as Oscar de la Renta, Carolina Herrera, Victor de Souza, Malan Breton, Valentino, Zang Toi, B Michael, Ese Azenabor, Zac Posen, and many other designers. Jean plans to donate the collection to a museum one day.

This year, Thomas J. Henry is making his birthday celebration truly special by giving back to the community in a way like never before. While past birthdays have featured grand parties with music, big bands, and festivities, this year Mr. Henry is choosing to share his success by helping others.

In past years, the powerhouse attorney has shut down entire venues, flown in A-list performers like Jack Harlow, Cardi B, DJ Khaled, Migos, Pitbull, Enrique Iglesias, Steve Aoki, and the list goes on, offering guests once-in-a-lifetime experiences with lights, confetti, and private jet-level energy. VIPs, influencers, and bold-faced names flood his ultraexclusive guest lists, partying the night away under chandeliers or neon lights— depending on the vibe. But it’s not all glitz—Mr. Henry also uses his birthday to give back, often tying his celebrations to charitable causes. One year, donations flowed to support child advocacy groups, blending purpose with party.

As he celebrates another year of life, growth, and hard work, Mr. Henry is not only reflecting on his personal journey but also on the countless people who have been a part of it—family, friends, associates, clients, and many more.

In April Mr. Henry launchinged an exciting initiative to give away one

million dollars over the next 9 months. Each week, $5,000 are awarded to five individuals who enter the giveaway. But that’s not all—a grand prize of $100,000 will be given to two winners in December.

“THIS JOURNEY ISN’T ABOUT A SINGLE PERSON BUT SO MANY PEOPLE. THIS YEAR, I WANT TO CELEBRATE BY GIVING BACK,” SAID MR. HENRY.

“Whether it’s helping someone through tough times or easing a financial burden, providing assistance to someone I may never meet brings me fulfillment and a deep sense of purpose,” added Mr. Henry. “I’m excited to offer this support to people who need it to improve their lives, whether it’s for school, medical expenses, or simply making life a little easier.”

The giveaway is open to anyone in the state of Texas. To learn more about this initiative, follow social media platforms. To enter the giveaway, visit BIT.LY/TJHMILLIONDOLLARGIVEAWAY

“Thank you all for sharing this special birthday with me,” Mr. Henry concluded. “I look forward to seeing the positive impact we can make together.” Not only is Mr. Henry giving away a million dollars, but he’s also making a

lasting impact with the opening of a philanthropic center in Corpus Christi. The center will serve as a hub for community support, offering resources to local initiatives, and helping provide aid to those in need through qualified requests. Mr. Henry is committed to making a difference, not just through financial giveaways, but by building something tangible and sustainable.

THE WILDFIRE PROTECTION

SO CAL FIRE SUPPLY

As wildfires continue to intensify across the United States, Bobby Milstein, a leader in the fire safety industry with dedicated expertise harnessed across decades of experience in fire prevention and suppression, stands at the forefront of providing critical solutions to homeowners seeking to protect themselves against the catastrophic harm of mass fire disasters. Milstein’s company, So Cal Fire Supply, has become an indispensable resource for homeowners, fire departments, and

private landowners looking to fortify their defenses in the increasing threat of wildfires in the wildland-urban interface.

Following a career in the 1990’s as a special effects and pyrotechnics coordinator within the Los Angeles film industry, Milstein founded Malibu Fire Supply, offering home evaluations, stand-alone suppression systems, nontoxic biodegradable fire gel, specialized fire equipment, PPE protection and home hardening services.

In 2009, Milstein’s So Cal Fire Supply became the premier provider of cuttingedge stand-alone defense systems not reliant on municipal water, power, internet, phone, or apps, including the latest personal protection service that includes private firefighting brigades. As a business leader in the fire protection field, and a team leader and pivotal member with the newly formed Los Angeles County Community Fire Brigade program, Milstein has helped many homeowners and neighborhoods

Bobby Milstein, So Cal Fire Supply Founder

with training and equipment for their personal, family and community wildfire safety. Milstein’s mission is clear: “To safeguard properties in wildfire-prone areas through innovative, self-reliant water delivery systems, integrating cutting-edge technology and scientific principles to provide unparalleled protection against the threat of wildfires.”

A First Defender Wildfire System designed by So Cal Fire Supply is a stand-alone system 100% autonomous and activates on its own when fire is detected by its sensors. Powered by propane fuel, a high-pressure fire pump uses active fire sensors to detect incoming fire and agricultural grade sprinklers rapidly deploy and deluge the property with an eco-friendly water/ foam mixture requiring no external power or municipal water. All units are custom programmed to take maximum advantage of water resources available and automated maintenance exercises prevent atrophy.

California faces some of the most extreme wildfire conditions in the world, with record-breaking blazes devastating homes, forests, and infrastructure annually. Most losses occur not from direct flame impingement but from burning embers racing at hurricane speeds miles ahead of the actual fire.

So Cal Fire Supply has become an essential partner for fire mitigation and response in the state’s firefighting ecosystem with self-activating systems that autonomously detect 1 square foot of incoming flame at 1/4 mile distance.

“Wildfires have become an unfortunate reality, in Los Angeles, throughout California, and across the country” says Milstein, founder of So Cal Fire Supply. “OUR GOAL IS TO PROVIDE OUR HOMEOWNERS, NEIGHBORHOODS AND COMMUNITIES WITH THE HIGHEST QUALITY TOOLS AND TECHNOLOGY AVAILABLE SO THEY CAN PROTECT THEIR ASSETS SAFELY AND EFFECTIVELY THROUGH EDUCATION, SELF-RELIANCE, AND CUTTING-EDGE TECHNOLOGY. THE STAKES HAVE NEVER BEEN HIGHER, AND WE’RE COMMITTED TO BEING PART OF THE SOLUTION.”

As wildfires increasingly threaten suburban and rural communities, So Cal Fire Supply works with people dedicated to the implementation of fire prevention strategies that minimize risk and enhance community resilience with a focus on self-reliance. With longer and more destructive fire seasons

becoming the norm, So Cal Fire Supply urges homeowners, communities, businesses, and wildfire outreach programs to take a proactive approach to wildfire preparedness. The company offers comprehensive consultations, product demonstrations, and expert recommendations for home hardening to ensure fire response teams are fully equipped before disaster strikes. “We’re in a new era of wildfire management,” Milstein emphasizes. “Preparedness isn’t just an option, it’s a necessity. Our mission is to provide the most effective tools available to save lives, protect property and assets, and support those who risk everything to keep us safe. Our biggest accomplishment during the Woolsey Fire of 2018 was the historic saving of the Calamigos Ranch resort and preservation of 540 full-time jobs.”

ABOUT SO CAL FIRE SUPPLY:

Founded in 2009, So Cal Fire Supply is a leading provider of wildfire suppression and prevention solutions dedicated strictly for wildfire defense, serving fire departments, municipalities, and private entities across the U.S. Founded by industry expert Bobby Milstein, the company specializes in high-quality firefighting equipment, safety gear, and cutting-edge fire mitigation strategies to combat the increasing threat of wildfires nationwide.

JEAN SHAFIROFF HOSTS KICK-OFF COCKTAIL RECEPTION FOR THE 69TH ANNUAL VIENNESE OPERA BALL

The 69th Annual Viennese Opera Ball returns to Cipriani 42nd Street this May 2025, for what promises to be one of the most spectacular evenings in New York’s social calendar. This year’s gala was launched formally at a kick-off cocktail reception hosted by philanthropist, TV host and author Jean Shafiroff at her Park Avenue home with music, laughter, and a whole lot of excitement in the air.

Regarding the upcoming event Jean commented, “I am delighted to host this kick-off party for the 69th Viennese Opera Ball. As co-chair along with Denise Rich for many years, I can say that the Ball will be spectacular, especially as we are excited to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Johann Strauss II.”

One of the evening’s special moments was when both Co-Chair Jean Shafiroff and the Viennese Opera Ball were honored with citations from Assembly Member Rebecca A. Seawright, recognizing the cultural and economic ties between Austria and the United States — and Austria’s remarkable legacy of tradition, music, and art. Co-

Chair and Past Honoree, Jean Shafiroff and Executive Director, Silvia Frieser, were proud to accept this meaningful recognition on behalf of the Ball. Jean Shafiroff, champion for charitable causes, Gala Chair and important long-time supporter of the Viennese Opera Ball, received an additional citation in recognition of her on-going philanthropic work and extraordinary contributions to the Viennese Opera Ball.

Another distinguished moment of the evening was the performance by acclaimed soprano Johanna Will, also featured in the upcoming Viennese Opera Ball. She captivated guests with two arias: Marietta’s Song from Korngold’s The Dead City and Song to the Moon from Taeuschak’s Rusalka, delivering each with exceptional grace and vocal artistry.

This year’s Ball has particular importance as it honoring the enduring legacy of one of the world’s great musical geniuses. Known as the “Waltz King,”, Johann Strauss II was an Austrian composer celebrated for creating

iconic works such as The Blue Danube, Tales from the Vienna Woods, and the operetta Die Fledermaus.

The countdown to May 9th and the Annual Ball has now officially begun. The evening promises a night filled with culture, tradition, spectacular waltzes, exquisite gastronomy, breathtaking ballet, extraordinary opera performances, a midnight Quadrille, and other exciting surprises. While enjoying an unforgettable evening, one supports an incredible cause — advancing cancer research through Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation for Cancer Research.

ABOUT THE VIENNESE OPERA BALL:

Since 1955, the Viennese Opera Ball in New York has been a representative of Vienna’s cultural legacy, elegance, and glamour in the Big Apple. CONSUELO VANDERBILT COSTIN HOSTS RIVERSIDE REVERIE ON FISHER ISLAND

On a balmy spring evening off the coast of Miami Beach, modern-day Vanderbilt and philanthropist Consuelo Vanderbilt Costin welcomed a handpicked group of elite guests to “Riverside Reverie,” a glamorous celebration held at the historic Vanderbilt Mansion on Fisher Island.

The event marked a poignant fullcircle moment in the Vanderbilt family narrative. Nearly a century ago, Consuelo’s ancestor William K. Vanderbilt II, a railroad magnate and yachtsman, acquired Fisher Island in 1925 in exchange for a luxury yacht. He transformed the once-uninhabited island into a private haven of refinement and exclusivity—constructing the opulent Mediterranean-style estate that became the evening’s setting.

The evening, co-hosted by philanthropist Marta Bloom, introduced a new era of luxury to a select gathering of Miami tastemakers, travel advisors, media, influencers, and Fisher Island residents. In keeping with the Gilded Age glamour of its surroundings, guests were immersed in an experience curated to evoke the elegance of Europe’s grand waterways.

The brand’s Founder and Owner, Mr. Gregor Gerlach, was on hand to share his vision of sophisticated travel across Europe’s storied rivers, while North American CEO Jennifer Halboth spoke to the brand’s promise of intuitive,

high-touch service designed for today’s most discerning travelers. “We were delighted to share a glimpse of this ultra-luxury experience with a new audience on beautiful Fisher Island,” said Halboth. “The strong interest we observed indicates a genuine appreciation for the style of travel we offer, and we look forward to welcoming these guests onboard our ships so they can experience it firsthand.”

WILLOWBROOK TO THE WORLD STAGE

GERALDO RIVERA’S SCOOP THAT ROCKED LENNON

The recently released documentary One to One: John & Yoko, directed by Kevin Macdonald, offers an immersive exploration of John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s transformative years in early 1970s New York City. At the heart of the film is the couple’s politically charged activism, culminating in their 1972 benefit concert at Madison Square Garden. This landmark event was directly inspired by journalist Geraldo Rivera’s exposé on the deplorable conditions at Willowbrook State School— an example of how investigative journalism can catalyze celebrity-driven advocacy for social change.

In 1972, Geraldo Rivera’s groundbreaking investigative report exposed the shocking neglect and abuse at Willowbrook State School, sparking national outrage and earning him a Peabody Award. Deeply affected by the revelations, Lennon and Ono organized the “One to One” benefit concert to raise awareness and support for the institution’s children. The concert became a powerful symbol of their commitment to humanitarian causes and showcased the profound influence of Rivera’s work in galvanizing public attention and action.

ABOUT ONETO ONE: JOHN & YOKO:

One to One: John & Yoko is a 2024 documentary film co-directed by Kevin Macdonald and Sam Rice-Edwards, with Sean Ono Lennon serving as Executive Producer. Distributed by Magnolia Pictures, the film premiered at the Venice Film Festival in 2024 and was subsequently featured at the Telluride and Sundance Film Festivals.

DOCUMENTARY SYNOPSIS:

On August 30, 1972, John Lennon

onetoonefilm.com

performed his only full-length solo concert after leaving The Beatles—the One to One benefit at Madison Square Garden. It was a vibrant, unforgettable performance by Lennon and Yoko Ono, and it serves as the centerpiece of this captivating documentary. Oscar®winning director Kevin Macdonald uses this legendary event as a springboard to examine eighteen pivotal months in the lives of John and Yoko.

By 1971, the couple had recently moved to the United States, settling into a modest apartment in Greenwich Village and absorbing American culture— particularly through television. The film creatively uses a montage of contemporary American TV to evoke the zeitgeist of the era, with glimpses of the Vietnam War, The Price Is Right, Nixon, Coca-Cola ads, Walter Cronkite, and The Waltons. As they navigate a year marked by love, activism, and personal transformation, John and Yoko redefine their approach to protest—ultimately leading to the One to One concert, inspired by a Geraldo Rivera exposé they saw on television.

Filmed within a meticulously recreated version of their NYC apartment, One to One: John & Yoko offers a bold, immersive retelling of a formative chapter in the lives of two of the 20th century’s most influential artists.

ABOUT GERALDO RIVERA:

One of media’s most enduring broadcasters, Geraldo Rivera is an Emmy and Peabody Award-winning journalist whose career spans over five decades. He began at WABC-TV in New York, where he produced a historic investigative series exposing the inhumane conditions

at Willowbrook State School for people with developmental disabilities—then referred to as “mentally challenged.” His reporting sparked nationwide outrage, prompted government investigations, and contributed to the closure of similar institutions across the country. Rivera’s work helped shift national policy toward community-based care, a transformation he considers the most important achievement of his career.

Rivera has earned numerous accolades, including the 2000 Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award for his NBC documentary Women in Prison, as well as the Scripps Howard Foundation’s national journalism award for Back to Bedlam. Over the years, he has received hundreds of honors, including the George Foster Peabody Award, three national and seven local Emmys, two ColumbiaDuPont Awards, and two additional Scripps Howard Journalism Awards.

A licensed attorney, Rivera’s career has spanned the globe. Before joining Fox News, he worked as a correspondent for ABC News, hosted record-breaking syndicated specials (including The Mystery of Al Capone’s Vault), and led The Geraldo Rivera Show for eleven successful seasons. He later anchored CNBC’s toprated Rivera Live, gaining critical acclaim for his coverage of the O.J. Simpson verdict and the Clinton impeachment.

Rivera joined Fox News in 2001 as a war correspondent following the 9/11 attacks. Over the next decade, he reported from conflict zones worldwide, including eleven assignments each in Afghanistan and Iraq. Most recently, he served as a Correspondent-at-Large for NewsNation.

eastern end. The ultimate island hideaway of Cap Juluca has every facility to make your dream Caribbean getaway a reality that is just 20 minutes from nearby Clayton J. Lloyd Airport.

Set across 179 acres on Anguilla’s southwestern end, Cap Juluca is nestled in two crescent-shaped coves on Maundays Bay. The resort is a magnet for the global jet set: a place where people from across the world could come together with locals to

form a new-found family. Celebrated for the way it brings guests and staff together in a tender fashion even employees known as “Julucans” have been loyal to the spirit of the property since it opened decades ago.

Accommodations include 68 rooms and 45 suites. Greco-Moorish-style villas lay out in clusters and were designed by Los Angeles-based architect Oscar Farmer. He proudly referred to them as his “most romantic architectural creation.”

Cap Juluca, a Belmond Hotel in Anguilla

Amenities surrounding quarters such as the Cap Juluca Spa by Guerlain, an infinity pool and a long list of outdoor activities to play out such as snorkeling, scuba diving, sailing, and tennis.

The best restaurants in Anguilla can be found at Cap Juluca and offer a variety of culinary items. Having started out as a premiere culinary destination, the property quickly expanded into a boutique hotel for those in-the-know. To this day it remains an intimate island retreat full of local soul.

First Pimms was established as a destination restaurant in 1987. Less than a year later, the hotel was built around it. Owners Sue and Robin Ricketts sat on idyllic Meads Bay with their friends Roland Richard and Nick Douglas and decided to name it after the Juluca—the Arawak rainbow spirit.

Diversity on menus is found at the beloved original restaurant along with memorable expressions from Cip’s by Cipriani, The Cap Shack, A Taste of Anguilla, and even private dining. Vibrant island flavors are brought to life with herbs and spices from the property’s bountiful garden. With each location you will deeply understand why Anguilla is fast becoming the culinary capital of the Caribbean.

Cap Juluca has always been in-tune with appreciation for the local environment. It is common for the days here to be filled with glorious nature walks and lecturers. It was also the first spot in the Caribbean to host an endangered plant garden and the first to host the island’s dedicated herb garden, where guests can pluck their own species to be made into fresh-brewed tea.

Your Caribbean fantasy comes true here at this alluring place to sit back and relax. It is wellknown amongst the Hollywood set to legendary entrepreneurs. The famous are treated as equally as the average visitor looking for an oasis that feels hidden but is in plain sight.
