KENNETH WILLIAM JACKSON “KEN” 1st November 1918 - 10th January 2015 Thursday 29th January 2015 12 noon

I said to the man who stood at the Gate of the Year, 'Give me a light that I may tread safely into the unknown.' And he replied, 'Go out into the darkness, and put your hand into the hand of God. That shall be better than light, and safer than a known way.'

A private committal will take place at Wyre Forest Crematorium If you wish to stay at church for light refreshments the family will join you shortly.

ADDRESS PRAYERS HYMN The day thou gavest, Lord, is ended, The darkness falls at Thy behest; To Thee our morning hymns ascended, Thy praise shall sanctify our rest.

H rder of Service

We thank Thee that Thy church unsleeping, While earth rolls onward into light, Through all the world her watch is keeping, And rests not now by day or night. As o'er each continent and island The dawn leads on another day, The voice of prayer is never silent, Nor dies the strain of praise away. The sun that bids us rest is waking Our brethren 'neath the western sky, And hour by hour fresh lips are making Thy wondrous doings heard on high. So be it, Lord! Thy throne shall never, Like earth's proud empires, pass away; Thy kingdom stands, and grows for ever, Till all Thy creatures own Thy sway.

FINAL SCRIPTURE AND BLESSING

Officiated by Reverend Simon Gudger

HYMN What a friend we have in Jesus, All our sins and griefs to bear! What a privilege to carry Everything to God in prayer! O what peace we often forfeit! O what needless pain we bear! All because we do not carry Everything to God in prayer.

ENTRANCE AND WELCOME

OPENING PRAYERS Including The Lord’s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name: Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done; on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom the power and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen

Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere? We should never be discouraged; Take it to the Lord in prayer. Can we find a friend so faithful Who will all our sorrows share? Jesus knows our every weakness; Take it to the Lord in prayer. Are we weak and heavy-laden, Cumbered with a load of care? Precious Saviour, still our refuge, Take it to the Lord in prayer. Do thy friends despise, forsake thee? Take it to the Lord in prayer; In His arms He'll take and shield thee, Thou wilt find a solace there.
