Welcome to the 3rd annual Employer Healthcare Congress and welcome to Chicagoland! Our industry is faced by challenges that we have not had to face before; unsustainable rising healthcare and health insurance costs, healthcare reform law, and what seems to be a never ending economic recession. It is forcing our organizations to carefully evaluate budgets, bottom lines and to make the best assessment of how they invest their time and effort. One of our goals through our speakers, educational content and our exhibitor showcases is to re-invigorate you and open up new ideas and concepts that will let you succeed in your business. Whether you are in the benefits department, or working for a consulting firm or insurer, this Congress is designed to bring life back into your work. We have heavily invested this year in bringing in some of the best keynote speakers, not seen at other healthcare and insurance conferences, to press upon the cutting edge issues. The caliber of our speakers this year is exclusive and the diversity of their insight is invaluable for success. Susan Voss, President of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners tells us how State Health Exchanges will work. Bill Rancic’s Keynote will address adaptability in today’s environment. Cecil Wilson’s keynote on Healthcare Reform, Mitch Joel’s keynote on Social Media and John Casey of Google presenting on creating the healthiest employee on earth, set the stage for a tremendous amount of excitement throughout the event. I would like to thank every one of our speakers for taking the time out of their demanding schedules to share their educational content with the industry. The content of this year’s congress will focus on four critical areas of our industry: • • • •

Healthcare Reform - changing the name of the game, understanding it, and complying with it Sustainable Corporate Wellness Programs - getting the employees/insured engaged Advantages of Self Funding Healthcare and other benefits under Healthcare Reform Utilizing Voluntary Benefits as a protective cushion for employees during these tough economic times

I hope everyone plays our benefits bingo and takes a crack at the safe code and the chance to win $200,000 in the exhibit hall. It is evident that all of you have made the decision to put the future in your own hands and gathered here with the belief for further education, collaboration and networking. Our one-on-one networking meetings are designed to give you the tools to network with industry professionals from all over the country; no cell phones or scheduled conference calls, simple quality face time that still means the most. If you have not scheduled networking meetings yet, you can still go to the networking kiosks and request meetings. As an added benefit, attendees of the Employer Healthcare Congress can attend our international healthcare conference, taking place simultaneously this year. Attendees can have the opportunity to tour the exhibit hall and attend sessions with a focus on global benefits & Insurance, medical tourism and healthcare development. This congress focuses on some of the same issues found here at the Employer Healthcare Congress and highlights them with a large, global perspective. I want to thank everyone for coming and I hope to spend time with each one of you! It has been a great challenge preparing our most insightful and motivating conference yet. Our team met these challenges willingly and proactively, with confidence that the Employer Healthcare Congress brings each attendee the knowledge and tools for a successful start in the New Year. WEDNESDAY | OCTOBER 26TH 2011 8:30 AM - 9:45 AM

Opening Introduction & Keynote Speech Schaumburg Grand Ballroom

The Future of Healthcare and Healthcare Reform in America • Dr. Cecil Wilson, President, American Medical Association (AMA)

The US health care system in recent years has experienced rapidly rising costs and uneven results in access, quality and outcomes. The Affordable Care Act represents the first comprehensive attempt to overhaul the organization and delivery of care, and to extend coverage to the uninsured. Dr. Wilson’s remarks will discuss the forces driving the passage of the Affordable Care Act, what is positive in reform efforts, what is negative and what needs to be improved. This discussion includes changes to unfold in the future in how physicians treat patients, deliver care and how they are compensated. Issues include the need to reform the Medicare payment system and the medical liability system; the reorganization of health care delivery around more integrated practices, medical homes and accountable care organizations; and the growing use of electronic health records. 10:00 AM - 10:50 AM

Track 1

Educational Session Investing in a Healthy Culture: Achieving Results via a Healthy Enterprise Utopia C A Healthy Enterprise is a place where employees are able to fully engage in their work and life. Sibson conducted a study of employers nationally to test its Healthy Enterprise maturity model and understand the impact strategies and practices have on driving outcomes such as health, absence and turnover. Sibson’s analysis of almost 300 employer survey respondents, representing over 2 million employees, validates its maturity model and identifies the relative importance of various practices and an understanding of what results in improved outcomes and program participation. This data enabled Sibson to develop a Healthy Enterprise Index that is associated with reduced health care costs, health cost increases, turnover, absence and workers’ compensation costs. This session will take a focused look at Northern Ohio and the experience from the Cleveland Museum of Natural History and their annual Wellness @ Work Awards and how the top experience compares for the award winners, relative to other award participants and those who chose not to participate. • Steve Cyboran,Vice President & Consulting Actuary, Sibson Consulting • Linda Spurlock, PhD,the Director of Human Health, Cleveland Museum of Natural History

Track 2

Return on Investment for Web Based Enrollment System Implementation Utopia A The web is one of the most important tools being used to reach out to employees and to engage them in their benefits package. Learn how to get the most out of your web based enrollment system, not just with ROI, but utilization, engagement and enrollment. Also, learn how the State of North Carolina built it’s voluntary benefits program to 230,000 participants, with eight product offerings, coordinating with thirty-two payroll centers. Learn how the paper process for enrollment was becoming burdensome, so Web enrollment technology was examined to assist with this process and how they had a huge success and ROI on the web enrollment. Learn how they collaborated with key stakeholders to integrate various benefit offerings. • Pani Tademeti, HR Manger- Total Compensation, Office of State Personnel North Carolina • Robert Shestack, Managing Director of Employee Benefits, Marsh U.S Consumer • Jason Krouse, Vice President Specialized Markets, Univers Workplace Benefits

Current Trends In Multinational Pooling Schaumburg E Multinational Pooling has been in use since its creation some 40 years ago. It has evolved today into a commonly used method to simultaneously manage the risk of employee benefits plans and reduce costs in order to provide critical information back to corporate HQ. This session will cover real life case studies through a panel discussion. Educational Sessions High Value Workforce Wellbeing Strategies to “Bend the Trend” Schaumburg E People are the biggest source of a sustainable competitive advantage. People strategists and HR leaders in the C-Suite realize that measuring, reporting and benchmarking results are the most important steps toward rapidly improving company value streams to help CEOs make distinct choices about improving the bottom line and sustaining a competitive edge. The time has come for a major paradigm shift that enables pioneering employers to simultaneously realize greater employee trust, talent engagement and customer value realization, as well as prevent spiraling health care costs and actually bend the trend. The yearslong trend of steadily mushrooming costs of providing workforce health care benefits has made many employers complacent about the problem instead of proactively working to reverse it. Many employers just accept the status quo. And it can’t be that way. This roundtable will discuss the key advantages of a high-value workforce wellbeing value realization approach for CEOs to sustain imperative business results through the execution of comprehensive health promotion strategies and focused action plans to head off or minimize cost increases, enhance employee work capacity achievements and realize the value of workforce wellbeing outcomes per dollar spent. • Les C.
