Galvin Parkway in Phoenix WHAT: For nearly 80 years, the Desert Botanical Garden has been teaching and inspiring visitors from the local community and around the world, providing research, exhibits and more designed to help us understand, protect and preserve the desert’s natural beauty. FRIENDS AND FAMILY CPR WHEN: October 4, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. WHERE: Foothills Community Foundation Holland Center, 34250 N. 60th St. in Scottsdale WHAT: This is a free class for people who want to learn CPR but do not need a CPR course completion card or certification to meet a job requirement. This course is ideal for community groups, new parents, grandparents, babysitters, and others interested in learning how to save a life. Adult, children, and infant lifesaving skills will be taught.

“ART AT THE ROCKS” WHEN: October 13, 4 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. WHERE: Desert Hills Presbyterian Church, 34605 N. Tom Darlington Rd. in Scottsdale WHAT: “Arts at the Rocks” is excited to present Sam Rotman, a Juilliard-trained, world-renowned concert pianist, who will thrill us with an All-Beethoven concert commemorating the upcoming 250th anniversary of the birth of Ludwig van Beethoven. You don’t want to miss the mellifluous sounds of Mr. Rotman’s expert classical performance. Experience the joy of watching a world-class artist perform. The concert is free to the public and all are welcome. Additionally, reserve your ticket to attend Mr. Rotman’s session, “Meet the Artist - Advice and Encouragement for Young Musicians from a Juilliard Graduate”. The class will focus on the importance of musical study, the way to prepare for a career in music and attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions. Culver St. in Phoenix WHAT: Howl-O-Ween featuring The Big Dog Show is a 100 percent charitable Halloween-themed dog parade and art installation that celebrates canines, costumes and community.
