Mr Mesquite Taqueria To Open 19th Avenue and Happy Valley Location

AFTER SIGNING THE LEASE BACK IN 2016, MR MESQUITE TAQUERIA WILL BE OFFICIALLY OPENING THEIR DOORS THIS SUMMER ON 19TH AVENUE AND HAPPY VALLEY ROAD.

“This location means a lot to us since it is our first location in the greater Phoenix area, ” a company rep says. “Although COVID-19 slowed down the process of development, we kept our heads high and continued going at it.”

The date of the grand opening, which is to be announced, is set to be a huge day with many giveaways and free food to introduce Mr Mesquite to the community. Known for its fresh takes on Mexican street food and smoky, flavorful meats made on a custom-built mesquite charcoal grill, Mr Mesquite Taqueria made many fans across Arizona after opening the doors of its first location in 2015, according to the company. Now, six years later, the fastgrowing eatery operates seven locations across Arizona and Illinois and has its eyes on continued expansion across the United States.

Mack Real Estate Group Acquires 224 Acres in Deer Valley

AN AFFILIATE OF MACK REAL ESTATE GROUP, LLC (MREG) IS SET TO ACQUIRE 224 ACRES OF LAND IN THE DEER VALLEY SUBMARKET AFTER SUBMITTING THE WINNING BID AT A

RECENT STATE AUCTION. Strategically located in an area that is highly desirable for logistics but has a limited supply of available land zoned for such uses, the sites can house up to four million square feet of industrial, office and manufacturing space. MREG plans to build in phases, offering both build-to-suit opportunities and speculative buildings within the overall three site development. Richard Mack, CEO of MREG, announced the deal.

“The Mack family’s success in Phoenix has been broad based, but recently it has centered on Deer Valley industrial development,” Mack says. “This new deal by MREG takes us back to our roots while also accelerating our growth trajectory in Phoenix.”

The winning bid for the Deer Valley sites follows significant acquisition and development activity by MREG in Phoenix last year, and further demonstrates a renewed commitment to growth in and around a market where Mack family investments have been well established since the 1980s. Mack Property Management, the property management business of MREG, also relocated its head office to Phoenix last fall.

MREG recently brought on Craig Henig, formerly of The Mack Company, a separate Mack family business that has been investing and developing industrial and office properties in Phoenix since 1987. Henig serves as executive director, overseeing MREG’s activities in the region. “The Deer Valley land provides an outstanding opportunity to write a new chapter of success in Phoenix. We’re incredibly gratified to be the winning bidder as we believe strongly in the potential of Deer Valley – as we always have.”

Phoenix Small Business Hiring and Wages Show Pandemic Rebound

SMALL COMPANY HIRING IN PHOENIX MOVED INTO POSITIVE TERRITORY WITH MARCH GAINS OVER FEBRUARY 2021, ACCORDING TO THE PAYCHEX IHS MARKIT SMALL BUSINESS WATCH FOR THE THIRD

MONTH OF 2021. New jobs posted a 0.61 percent gain in month-over-month dating, placing Greater Phoenix second behind Dallas, Texas.

Job gains in Phoenix, paired with a nearly four percent year-over-year increase in weekly wages, show ongoing economic recovery signs. The average earnings in the Valley grew to $940 per week, placing the metro area tenth among large markets. Riverside, California, topped the list with an eight percent earnings jump. Boston was second with nearly six percent, followed by almost five percent hikes in New York and San Francisco.

In addition to increases in the number of hires, people are working more hours per week. Greater Phoenix landed in the top five metro area rankings for weekly work hours in March 2021, up 0.94 percent over last March. Tempered by the mid-March 2020 pandemic start, the year-ago figure reflects the beginning of the state-ordered lock-down.

Paychex, a national payroll and human resources support company for small businesses, has its western regional headquarters in Phoenix. The Small Business Employment Watch is its monthly publication assessing economic change among the company’s hundreds of small business clients around the U.S.

The gains in March are a continuing show of economic recovery in Greater Phoenix. The March 2021 small business employment numbers come on the heels of the recent Arizona Employment Report, which also shows overall Phoenix area hiring continuing monthover-month growth. The Paychex small company year-over-year data show the small business workforce is 3.3 percent less in March than the same month last year. The Arizona Office of Economic Opportunity’s most current metro area workforce numbers report the Phoenix metro February workforce at 3.6 percent less than the previous year for all companies.

Despite a solid March 2021 earnings gain in the Phoenix metro, the average small company pays its workers $28.08 per hour, about a dollar-an-hour less than the national average. The U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis reported Arizona shares the nation’s lead for year-overyear 2020 personal income growth with an 8.4 percent increase. According to Paychex, wages and earnings, one component of personal income, are rising more slowly among small companies.

WHILE THE MONTHLY INDEX FOR GREATER PHOENIX RANKED THIRD, THE ACTUAL MONTH-OVER-MONTH HIRING GAINS PLACED THE METRO AREA THIRD AMONG MAJOR MARKETS.
