BALLET ARIZONA AT DESERT BOTANICAL GARDEN
When: Weekly Tuesday – Saturdays in May, 8 p.m. Where: Desert Botanical Garden, 1201 N. Galvin Pkwy. in Phoenix What: From the choreographer that brought you masterpieces such as Eroica, Topia, and The Four Seasons, An Evening at the Desert Botanical Garden promises a spectacular ballet performance that is uniquely Arizonan. Surrounded by the lush desert landscape with the setting sun as a backdrop, Ib Andersen’s vision for dance in the desert continues in 2021 with An Evening at Desert Botanical Garden. Expect the unexpected as Ballet Arizona evolves, takes chances, and challenges the boundaries of contemporary ballet in the desert that we call our home.
YOGA IN THE RAINFOREST
When: May 11, 5 p.m. – 6 p.m. Where: Butterfly Wonderland, 9500 E. Via de Ventura in Scottsdale What: Practice yoga surrounded by thousands of butterflies! This hour-long class will guide guests through an extremely memorable yoga class that helps build strength and gain flexibility. Ages 18 & up; $20/person. ARIZONA BLACK RODEO
When: May 15, 1p.m. and 7 p.m. Where: WestWorld of Scottsdale, 16601 N. Pima Rd. in Scottsdale What: In 2019, the Arizona Black Rodeo — highlighting local and national African American rodeo competitors — drew thousands of enthusiastic rodeo fans. In 2021, there will be two shows (1 and 7 p.m.) featuring bull riding, tie down roping, steer wrestling, steer undecorating, ladies barrel racing, relay races and the crowd favorite mutton bustin’ and calf scramble for the little ones. Round up your family and friends and join us for the “hottest show on dirt.” The Arizona Black Rodeo, presented by the Arizona Informant, is fun and exciting for the entire family and rated triple “E” Educational, Entertaining and for Everyone.
