Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center

Local Nashville Must-See’s

Located on the banks of the Cumberland River, Gaylord Opryland is near Nashville International Airport and a short drive or riverboat cruise away from downtown Nashville. It is a hotel that boasts the largest non-gaming, in-hotel exhibition space in the world. This resort and convention center consists of nine acres of indoor gardens, cascading waterfalls and an indoor river with its own Delta flatboat, along with fine dining and casual restaurants, unique shopping experiences, and a 20,000-square-foot resort spa and fitness center. For late-night fun, there is the Fuse Nightclub.

If you have time, you must visit some of Nashville’s landmarks, such as the Historic Ryman Auditorium, the Grand Ole Opry, and the Country Music Hall of Fame. Most attractions are only located within several minutes from the hotel, and the hotel staff would be happy to assist with directions and transportation needs. Some other sites worth visiting: • Frist Center for the Visual Arts • Country Music Hall of Fame • Nashville Zoo at Grassmere • Parthenon • The Hermitage • Cheekwood Botanical Gardens • Belle Meade Plantation • Belmont Mansion

Outlines of EFC Summit Presentations What Recession?—Chairman Nicholas Cokinos (An introduction to the celebrities in attendance: Ernie Reyes, Keith and Debbie Thompson, Steve LaVallee, David Deaton, Dave Kovar, Mike Allen, Steve Sohn and members of the EFC Board of Directors.) You have the power to continue to grow. You are the oasis in any so-called mess. Add 20% to all your endeavors and see your results increased. The Chairman will tackle this subject and much more with the help of his famed anecdotes. Renewals Made Easy—Paul Garcia When most people think of “sales,” we immediately think of taking advantage of people, or manipulation. The real purpose of sales is to solve problems! In this seminar, Master Paul Garcia, former consultant to over 300 schools, now running a successful chain of martial arts schools in the Northeast, will be sharing with you and your staff how the noble profession of sales works perfectly with the honorable profession of being a martial arts instructor. Master Garcia has done extensive work with the Zig Ziglar corporation. After training with head corporate trainers Brian Flanagan, and Bob Alexander, Master Garcia has learned how to incorporate the Ziglar Sales system into the martial arts. In this seminar, you learn how to discover and uncover the real needs of your students, how to discover their buying motives, and how to get your parents and students to see the long-term benefits of training. Through this training, many school owners have already begun to see huge differences in their renewal percentages.

How To Turn Young Instructors Into Great Leaders Jason Gabriele As master instructors in the martial arts, we know that many of our talented black belts are teenagers and we have been told for years that we can’t have “teenagers teaching kids/ adults.” So what do we do with them during those crucial years so that one day they can become great leaders and operate a branch location for you? I will be sharing with you 10 innovative ways to keep teens plugged into the system and avoid losing them to other activities/careers.

Teaching Teachers How to Teach—Dave Kovar In this session, Dave Kovar will share strategies designed to help instructors of all levels bring their teaching skills to the next level. He will cover: 1. 10 “Rules of 3” for Teaching 2. The Core 4 Retention Tools 3. The 5 Mindsets of a Professional Martial Arts Instructor Ask And Ye Shall Receive—Steve Sohn The only way to get into this seminar is to provide two questions you’ve always wanted answered about running your martial arts school. For many years at the many breakout sessions I’ve attended, I sat just where you are sitting now and wondered, “Why is this guy so successful? What is he doing that I’m not doing?” Over the past two years I’ve worked and watched my school slowly grow to proudly become one of EFC’s top five schools. Ask me how I did it and continue to do it. Ask me what’s on your mind. Ask and ye shall receive. I will also provide a form for school owners to complete as they walk in and also provide additional information about my school operations as a handout.

Mixed Martial Arts Made Safe—Luigi Cuellar Picking up where we left off at last years summit, MMA has grown to epic proportions! It has crossed over to national television by premiering on CBS (channel 2) and has been legalized in 32 states with New York on the fence of becoming the 33rd state. If you have not taken advantage of this multi-million dollar advertising campaign you are only passing up the chance to flood your school with adult students. The industry is changing and a lot of traditional schools are incorporating other arts and systems to offer the adult male demographic more variety in training methods. You do not need an octagon, ring or fight team to make MMA work for you. You just need an open mind and a few simple modifications. Come to my session for insights and details on how to incorporate MMA safely into your school. 200 Leads in One Day—Keith Thompson Getting a large amount of leads in one day can be as easy as running a professional, interactive, community booth. Shidoshi Keith Thompson will share his academy’s success along with results of others who have used the systems of successful booth operation. These are proven steps to making your booth the best in your area and one that should bring you more leads than ever before. Ten Steps to Running a Successful School—Keith Thompson Join Shidoshi Keith Thompson as he shares his Top 10 Keys to the successful EFC schools that he has visited and what they have in common. Come see what you can do to join the toplevel schools in the martial arts industry.

We are here to serve—Kathy Olevsky What I learned is that while marketing strategies can bring you new students and statistics can help you understand your growth, the only thing that can help you manage your growth is understanding all that it takes to keep your current students happy. They are the ones that can bring you the most valuable tool for your growth—internal referrals. So, we treat our students like royalty. We customer service them to death. We are rewarded because, when they bring us their friends and right now we are bursting at the seams. In this seminar I will explore all the different ways we serve our customers and achieve our enrollment and renewal goals. Technology That Can Help You—Jeff Sgarlata Use technology to maximize results for your dojo. Sgarware will allow you to spend less time at the computer and more time with your students. With Sgarware you can take full advantage of technology to help grow your business. “Know your numbers. Grow your numbers.” The Joy of Teaching—Ivan Kavitz In this session we will discover “the Four Stages of Influence,” “the Three Attributes that all Great Teachers Possess,” “the Four Laws of Teaching,” and “How to Inspire your Students to Great Achievements.” Hope to see you there!
