Eesti meistrivõistluste medaliomanik kreeka - rooma maadluses, olnud Eesti Maadlusliidu juhatuse liige ja Eesti Olümpiaakadeemia president. Avaldanud ca 200 teadustööd peamiselt spordifüsioloogia alal, sealhulgas toidu ja toitumise mõjust treeningu efektiivsusele.
