But all the big monkeys refused to do that so Brer Anancy went to Little Monkey Town. He told them what to do when they saw Brer Alligator, They all agreed. Then Brer Anancy ran home. When Brer Alligator came up and swam ashore, he found that Brer Anancy had tricked him. He was furious and went in search of him. As he passed Little Monkey Town, the little monkeys started singing, "Who has eaten Brer Alligator's pepper-pot?" They sang an answer too. They said. "We have eaten Brer Alligator's pepper-pot and we have enjoyed it." Brer Alligator was angry and ate all the little monkeys. As he was nearing home he heard someone singing the same song. He looked everywhere but saw no one. The singing continued and when he looked into the tamarind tree he saw Brer Anancy who sang loudly, "And I have eaten all of Brer Alligator's pepper-pot!"
