Our stores provide space for these outdoor groups to hold kit talks, recruitment drives, out of hours shopping events and meetings. Through our fun, hands-on kit talks young people and leaders can learn about outdoor clothing and equipment for their future activities from our experienced and expertly trained staff. Our talks cover topics such as the benefits of layering, which fabrics are best for which conditions and advice on maintaining equipment all of which can be tailored to a group’s needs. Our staff will give a hands-on approach and will allow participants and leaders to partake in demonstrations to ensure they are aware of how to use the kit and how to look after it. Talks cover a wide variety of topics including layering, boot and rucksack fittings and can be tailored with certain locations or even climates, encouraging attendees to ask questions and take part in team activities such as putting up a tent or using a stove. Parents are always welcome and encouraged to attend these talks for peace of mind and to get advice on the right kit for their child.
