Family holiday breaks

T

he Royal British Legion provides families of serving and ex-Service personnel the chance to take a week-long break and get away from the stresses and strains of everyday life.

We offer holidays between Easter and the school half-term each year, which usually run from Friday to Friday. Our Break Centres in Bridlington, Southport, Portrush and WestonSuper-Mare as well as some of the UK’s top holiday providers, aim to give families a week of fun, activities, exciting day-trips and memorable experiences, all in traditional British seaside resorts. Unwind and take life as it comes, perhaps venture out and about to explore the many attractions of the local area or spend a lazy day at the beach - all our centres are located on the sea front close to town centres. Most importantly you will have time to be together. Each Break Centre package includes six night’s full board accommodation, free

activities and entertainment, with travel to and from the centres also included. Breaks at Parkdean Holiday Parks and Haven Holiday Parks provide seven nights mobile home accommodation with a programme of daytime and evening entertainment and food vouchers to use in the onsite catering outlets. Here we’ve answered some of your frequently asked questions:

Where can I go? The Legion owns and operates four Break Centres (equivalent to high-standard, hotel-style accommodation) in England and Northern Ireland, and we also make use of Parkdean and Haven holiday parks around the UK, and they’re all near the coast.

What’s included/How much does it cost? We aim to provide a free holiday that should only require a minimum amount of spending money. The Legion does assist, where possible, with the cost of food and transport.

Who can go? The Legion can assist those who are Serving or who have Served in the UK Armed Forces, along with their dependents and carers. Some restrictions apply.

I’ve applied for a Legion Family Holiday - what happens next? Once your application has been approved the Poppy Breaks Coordinator will contact you as soon as possible to assist in organising your holiday. Essentially, we’ll confirm what date you’d like to go away, which location and any specific requirements your family may have. For further information on how to apply for a Family Holiday Break, call our helpline on 0808 802 8080 or visit www.britishlegion.org.uk
