Our team spoke with DeAndra Drewitt and what he had to say was: I’m still learning day by day. Mainly though, it is important to see yourself as an actual business. Meaning dotting all your I’s and crossing all your T’s; from customer service to executing your service and/or product, to the legality of paperwork and finances. I’d say I am doing damn good. I have legit been creating and growing for 9 years straight. I’ve been doing this and won’t stop doing this. I have set goals and reached them. I still have a long way to go. Reflecting on where I was, seeing myself achieve some of the goals I set for my work and business and literally being able to survive this long doing the same exact thing I started out doing and said I was going to do. The main adversit y that I face is trul y self-sabotage. At times not feeling like I am doing enough, having creative blocks, and letting my resources heavily outweigh my potential. My style, I have a very clean, high-quality work when it comes to the con-

Candid Content tent I create, while still adding creativity and originality to my work. I am truly here and building because of God. This is a gift, my photography and videography, all things SayDrewitt|Media has been equipped for me by God himself. Aside from that, you truly get an experience when you work with me. I take on your ideas, fears, and visions as if they were my own and create for you. Digital marketing is literally EVERYTHING. We live in a digital world. What we see, hear, feel and what we are influenced by is all composed of photos and videos which lead to digital marketing. I might be a little biased due to my background, but truly digital marketing is the driving force behind our everyday lifestyles. Stay true to you! Identify and learn your target audience as soon as possible and don’t let up on it. In this field it is easy to jump from one place to another and even easier to get lost in the sauce. Keep God first, work hard and never give up.

Branding So, what is a brand? We are living in an age where, brand identity and branding drives business and society. A brand is a collection of values and beliefs developed to represent an entity, as well as communicate core ethics and evoke emotion. Your brand is the perception of the persona you want to portray. Think of Nike. Some of the first things that come to mind are sports, shoes, and style. Nike is a timeless brand that dances with nostalgia, with its classic designs. Easily recognizable by the simplicity of their logo, Nike does a great job at staying modern, trendy, and forever having a step above many competitors. Your brand identity is the aesthetic recognition of your brand. Colors, fonts, and design all make up your brand identity. Using a set design with specific colors, graphics, and fonts across branding creates an easily identifiable brand. Your logo design should speak to the core values of your company creating a connection with your target audience. Using your brand’s perception to navigate business and influence your consumers and audience is known as branding. Branding should be deliberate choices made that align with the brand’s intended perception. The are 8 major types of branding, Personal branding, Product branding, Service branding, Retail branding, Cultural and geographic branding, Corporate branding, Online branding, Offline branding, however we will focus on Personal, Product, and Service branding.

“Brand is just a perception, and perception will match reality over time” - 10 -

Branding is the silent ambassador of your brand.

EDITS Magazine

Most of us have heard of the saying “I have a reputation to uphold”. This is a perfect example of Personal branding. Personal branding is essentially the way you present yourself or persona. This type of branding is mostly seen in personal appearances and social media. In a society where eyes are always on us with easy influence, personal branding is imperative. Billie Eillish crushed the game with her signature neon hair. Producing marketing and memorabilia that incorporated the unique color, Billie had branding and our eyes locked. Product branding is just that, branding a product or products. No different from any other type of branding, the aesthetic for your product should emote the essence of your product and brand. When developing product branding it should with the target customer in mind creating an instant connection. Product aesthetics should mirror the persona of your target customer. The art of Service branding differs from Personal and Product branding because it brands an action instead of something tangible. Aesthetics cultivated should depict the quality of service while keeping in mind the target consumers. Service branding can be often challenging. Most times Service branding offers add-ons or extra perks to display a level of quality or convenience. At some salons, shops, and boutiques may offer wine during your service. When you get your cars’ oil changed, have they ever offered to do free fuel or tire checks? This is to appeal to consumers and drive services. Service branding can meet ones’ expectations or exceed competitors.

Jonvier Michael Jonvier Media’s first objective was to find like minded small businesses, brands, or individuals lacking a media or social media presence and offer them affordable marketing, content creation, social media strategies, and various media-related services to launch them to their next level of success. In addition, MJM now aims to grow social capital, client and follower bases. Lastly, to be the driving network between brands, influencers, and companies to grow and create lasting and profitable partnerships and collaborations. Michael was asked what did he have to share about working within the media and social media industry and had this to say:

“ Growing your social media or becoming an influencer is not an overnight process and does take time and investment. Everything has to be pristinely, professionally, and tuned to a key audience and demographic. Be on top of trends and have a timestamp. When and how I post for social media dictates so much; like engagement, conversions, and interests. Also, “going viral,” is a feat that just happens. It cannot be forced. Understand the growing importance of social media and media in direct relation to personal marketing on any level; especially for entrepreneurs and those in entertainment. Lastly, social media alone is not enough to grow your business. You will need to invest in some form of marketing. Social media is just one tool, but when combined with marketing like targeted ads, it becomes even more proficient.”

“If you want to continually grow your blog, grind to stay interesting and relevant.” - 17 -

Corey Russell They often say that our destiny is prewritten. Author Corey Russell knows this from firsthand experience. From an early age Corey began writing, writing two plays by the age of 18. In 2014 taking a shift in writing he began writing books. Russell’s first book was published in 2016, titled: How To: Be a Soldier for Christ.” I had been laid off around this time and would find myself unable to sleep most nights. One night I was lying in bed, and I believe God dropped it in my spirit to write this story. The story was about a curious young boy with many questions that would go unanswered. Like what I was going through at the time” Corey said. He now has three published children’s books, “ The Great Wheat Story ”, “How To: Deal with Loss”, and “How To: Be a Soldier for Christ ”. Transforming his passion from a business to a brand he is now the owner of “Write-Hand Press” publishing company and in the process of expanding to apparel. Corey went on to say “I owe it all to God the creator! He is the one that has given me the ideas and the talent to get these messages across. To be able to write them in such a way that it is understandable to all ages and easy to digest.”

The Power of Forgiveness Have you ever been hurt by someone you trust and couldn’t find a way to forgive them? Was it a close friend or a relative? By not forgiving them, they have power over your thoughts, actions, or even your life. Just imagine for a moment, a 13-year-old girl, violated by someone to the point where she may not be able to have children. Imagine for a moment this person is her natural father. Painful right? What is more painful is, the thought of her

never being able to forgive him.

There are often people and situations in our life that begin to control all aspects of our life, that derive from fear, hurt, or hate. The power that is relinquished allows the person or situation superiority. The ability to change the narrative of your life is in your hands.

- 21 -

There is a time and season for all thingsincluding forgiveness. It was 25 years later before she got freed from this magnitude of a sin. Due to a tragic accident, she called the hospital and asked to be connected to his room. The conversation only had one sentence; it took one minute“I don’t want you to die without me forgiving you for what you did to me, so I forgive you”. Granting herself freedom from the past, she has now been able to rebrand herself into an impresa of strength and resilience. Giving back to the youth, serving as an educator, she has changed and greatly impacted the life of many. Creating a safe and positive environment for children, her classroom is filled with laughter and love. The brand that she has built for herself is easily recognizable by anyone she meets. Rebranding Just like life, business is forever evolving. The brand you once were may not be the brand that you are now. Your band was built on a journey filled with values. As that journey continues, your views, desires, or goals may have evolved. The audience you serve may no longer be the audience that you identify with. The alteration of your brand is known as rebranding. This occurs when brands want to compete with other or higher brands, appeal to a more sophisticated audience, branch off from previous or umbrella brand, or do not align with the beliefs of the present brand. Choosing to rebrand is a vast decision that should be carefully evaluated before the rebranding process begins. Rebranding can be broken down into 3 parts; Research, Build, Plan/Execute. A current analysis of your brand in full spectrum (all aspects) is imperative to the rebranding process. You must know where you are to determine how you will get to where you want to be. Understanding your current and target audience will be essential to the development of your rebranding strategy. Who is your consumer, what do they like, can they afford my brand, is my brand cohesive with my targeted consumer; are all questions that you should ask yourself. Comprehension of your audience includes knowing what they value, demographic, as well as the psyche of the consumer. Learning essentially who your audience is will be the foundation to the success for your rebranding.

- 22 -

“If you don’t give the market the story to talk about, they ’ll define your brand’s story for you.”

Revamp Revive

If people believe they share values with a company, they will stay loyal to the brand.

“Products are made in a factory but brands are created in the mind.”

After internalizing your desired audience, the rebuilding of your brand can begin. Reflect on what worked for you and what did not. Some rebrands are easily noticeable with drastic changes and others are slight amendments to what was once there. Perhaps the color pallet changed or a minor design change, like the font, occurred causing the brand to still be identifiable. Other rebrands involve major adjustments such as color, logo, and name alterations that conceal the history of the brand’s predecessor. Wachovia changing its brand to Wells Fargo was a major acquisition and rebrand. Ensuring that the rebrand taking place aligns with the new brand perception is crucial to creating a successful rebrand. Rebrand research and develop is irrelevant without adequate planning. The exe-

cution of presenting your new brand to the world is just as important as the development of the perception your brand creates. Rollout your rebrand in a way that will maximize exposure and present your new brand identity in a way that appeals to your target audience. Rebrand execution is the way you promote your brand. This should be done with detail and intent. Branding and rebranding are deliberate choices made to appeal, inform, or move your audience. So, no posting just for fun. Have a reason that is beneficial or influential to the brand. Constructing a branding strategy will help ensure that your brand is striving to its goal. Branding and promotion should be consistent across all avenues and platforms for your business.

Colourful Lifestyle “ You can have anything you want in life if you dress for it ”

Pretti Genuis

I have always been into fashion, hair, and makeup. I wanted to do it all but I was always told that to do all things would be a lot for one person and so I couldn’t decide which route I wanted to take. In the Summer of 2014 while in Atlanta, GA, I decided to launch my luxury clothing line called Pretti Genius. Pretti Genius is a signature one of a kind brand that caters to men and women. Pretti Genius unisex brand sold out on the first week of sales making a net profit of a little bit over $3,000. I was so proud! In the Fall of 2014, my dad passed, and my life felt like it turned upside down. My dad passing was one of the hardest trails I ever faced in my life, outside of relocating to another state. In the Winter of 2014, I moved to St. Louis from Georgia, to be closer to family for moral support while I was grieving. Deciding to move, was even harder because I needed the business and connections that I made the prior months. Set back after set back.

- 27 -

I arrived in St. Louis the Winter of 2014 right after my dad’s passing. I was homeless with no money or job. I moved in with my sister and her children, along with my daughter. It was uncomfortable, but I wouldn’t have asked for a better place to be. My sister allowed me to live rent free until I got on my feet and that was a blessing, thank God for my sister!

Painted by Elle

Winter 2014 I noticed all the compliments on my hair and make-up. I put Pretti Genius on a halt and started makeup. In a new yet old city, I pondered on how I wanted to brand my new business as a make-up artist. Thinking of a name, I thought about one of my friends that use to always joke calling me “Paint by numbers“, like the painting book because I always wore makeup. So, I named my new business Painted by Elle. When I first began Painted by Elle, the only service I offered was eyebrows, mainly because most people loved the way I did eyebrows, and I was not comfortable doing a full face yet.

“Beauty begins the moment you decide to be yourself ”

EDITS Magazine

Once people got their brows done they wanted makeup as well. That was a struggle because I did not have products for all clients, so I started investing in my own products. It went from eyebrows to full face application, to selling Mink lashes. Business was taking off and before I knew it, I was nominated and won makeup artist of the year in Atlanta Georgia 2018. I also was chosen to work New York fashion week, to be the makeup artist to the host of the BET awards, work on a short film, The Sister Smalls, as the lead makeup artist and many more opportunities, the blessings was pouring in. The following years I wanted to grow my brand even more, so took an 18-week business class to expand my business knowledge. I added more services such as individual lashes, eyebrow shaping, waxing, and penciled eyebrows. I even had to hired a part time assistant to help me with the over flow of clients and weddings. The year of 2020 when the Covid-19 Virus spread across the world causing a worldwide pandemic majorly affected my business. Business just stopped, nobody was getting makeup services due to everything shutting down and health restrictions such as the mask mandate which was one of the biggest reasons aside from safety. Despite being shut down a lot of people reverted back to eyebrows and lashes. So I then took 2 classes and received my certification in eyebrow tinting and eyelash extensions, after that I was back in business!

Yass Hunni Hair

In 2020 one of my good friends told me that she had colon cancer and she had been going through treatment. She beat it twice but it caused a lot of her hair to fall out. She always knew that I knew how to do hair so she asked me if I could re-style a couple of wigs that she had. I did and they turned out beautiful. She was one of the people that made me want to get back into the hair business. Seeing her wear wigs that I didn’t care for made me want to start searching for hair vendors to provide a better variety and quality of hair. It took me about 2 years to find the perfect vendor, but I found the perfect hair! In 2022 is when I did a soft launch of Yass Hunni Hair to see if there was a demand. The first week I sold out. I contacted my friend to tell her the good news, she replied telling me that she was dying. I thought back on when my dad passed, when I started Pretti Genius, but this time in my spirit I felt that I must continue despite the difficulties. I started off wanting to just sell wigs and hair but now I want to help people that have issues with their hair as far as alopecia, cancer or genetics. I want to make all women feel beautiful in their own skin and to enhance their own beauty.

Hause of Elle

Hause of Elle was created as an umbrella business to house all my businesses in one. I don’t like the things that I went through, but I know it was to make me stronger! Without trials, there will be no triumphs. Hause of Elle is everything that I ever dreamed of and prayed for! I’m glad that despite the difficulties I stuck in there. I achieved everything individually instead of all together, but I still achieved them all. I hope to inspire other people to keep going no matter the trials you go through or what people may say. If it’s your dream believe that it’ll come true and never stop dreaming. Today I’m a 3 time nominated makeup Artist of the year for Atlanta GA, I’m top 3 makeup artist in St. Louis, MO, international RAW artist derived California, lead makeup artist for 2 films, I have Cosmetic and Eye Lash Line, I will soon be launching Yass Hunni hair line en- 29Genius, tirely, and in 2023 I will be re-launching Pretti so be on the look out!

“I am not a product of my circumstances. I am a product of my decisions”

Cultivated Destiny From childhood, I knew that all people are born with special gifts & talents. Learning what they are and how to give them back to the world seemed to be a challenge for others, but a journey that I enjoyed. I always knew that I had the gifts of inspiration, interrogation, introspection, intuition, and interpretation. Leveraging them with learned skillsets and experiences laid the groundwork for more. So, when stakeholders in my primary work were asking, sometimes begging for more of my time and work, I answered their call with PlantED Personal & Professional Development. During a meditation focused on a friend’s dark & doubtful path, I compared his great

potential to that of a seed. As a passionate plant mother, I know that the seeds that are sown with good intentions come to fruition majestically. In contrast, those that are buried in doubt, confusion and limited life sources never grow. So, I casted an affirmation for him that I now hold for all of my clients—” Your Purpose is always PlantED, never buried.” When I went to send it to him by text, I saw the play on words for PD and ED; then the PlantED Name was confirmed. PlantED Personal & Professional Development was officially started in September 2019. However, the work of coaching and development began organically years before.

“It is never too late to be what you might have been”

There are two major business operations lessons that I have learned in forming this business: 1. Just do it! Progress over perfection serves you and your customers best. Waiting until all the ‘ducks are in a row’ and every marketing tool has been launched will paralyze you. Just do it! Start now! 2. Phone a Friend! No matter how talented and gifted you are as an entrepreneur, there is rest and balance in phoning a friend or seeking assistance with tasks that are holding you back. Hire a virtual assistant. Use an open template for that document. Consult with an attorney. Taking the time to build reliance, rest and convenience in your work gives space for you to do what YOU have been purposed to do! Share the wealth with another trusted professional. PlantED P&PD gives space for any leader to be heard, valued, and appreciated at all levels. As a small firm, we can offer custom products and experiences that specifically meet the client ’s needs without the stress of rigid programming. . Although there are a few market competitors, none come with our highly specialized curricula & experiences that service partners with intuitive care, 21st century tech inclusion, warm hospitality, and internationally accredited coaching mastery.

Social Media Consistency is key to being prominent on social media. When thinking of consistency and social media you might think about posting everyday or multiple times a day. Being consistent in social media is to have discipline with committing to a posting calendar. Knowing what content to post, when to post, and the intent behind the post is the formula to master. There are several reasons to post such as to inform, engage, or to entertain. Share details about the brand, products, and services through educational post. Polling, probing questions, and interactive post for your audience and target consumers are great ways to

engage your audience. Formulating a new product and want to gauge your consumer? Create a post surveying to see how your audience feels about the potential product to include your audience. Pops of color, eye catching graphics, and intriguing videos are a effective in capturing the attention and interest of consumers. Other than posts to inform, short impactful content always does the trick. Your social media presence is an extension of your brand. This is a separate market that has an enormous opportunity for you to expose your brand and capitalize.

I believe that every brand deserves its own unique footprint. My goal is to have every client feel confident in showing off their brand. To walk away with a brand, logo, or website that finally reflects who they are, who they want to attract and who they want to be in the future. At the end of the day, I want to build relationships with trust, honesty and style.

I have my Bachelors degree in Computer Information Systems, and my Masters degree is in Information Science/ with a minor in Network Security. I am a Microsoft Certified Professional, and I also hold the A+, Network+, and Mac OS 13 certifications. I’m most excited about my business OneTechGirl LLC, it has taught me alot that college and corporate never taught me. I got here today by listening to the people before me that have been through it and succeeded. I’ve learned that expensive colleges are not always the answer. You can figure out what you want to do out of high school and go learn that instead of finding yourself with 100k+ debt. I want to help businesses scale and get paid what they are worth. I fell hard for branding and website design. With a love for detail, strategy, and creating designs that gives brands a digital footprint they never thought possible. I want to help as many brands as I can.
