The Villages Pro Shootout The Villages Pro Shootout is a golf event that pits the head pros of The Villages golf courses against each other. Approximately 1,000 spectators watched the sixth annual event which took place at Lopez Legacy Country Club in The Villages. A golfer gets eliminated after each hole whether by strokes, a putt-off or a chip-off. When defending champion Steve Hanson, the pro at Lopez Legacy, threeputted the seventh hole it became a three-man race. Chris DeBusk of Havana Country Club, Brett Sherman of Tierra del Sol County Club and David Williams of Cane Garden Country Club went to the eight tee hoping for some magic. DeBusk birdied the par-5 to move on while Sherman and Williams made par. The two went to a chip off. Williams went first and came up short. Sherman’s shot in the air looked like it would be closer but it checked up and Williams moved on. On the par-4 ninth hole, Williams rose to the occasion hitting his 122-yard approach shot to 10 inches. DeBusk had a 20-footer for birdie and missed it.
