Waterfront Insular Hotel Davao lights up THE SEASON OF LOVE HAS OFFICIALLY BEGUN AT WATERFRONT INSULAR HOTEL DAVAO. The annual unveiling of the Christmas tree was held Wednesday, November 16, at the Hotel Lobby. This time-honored tradition with the Davao Children’s Cancer Fund Inc.’s House of Hope Foundation was attended by loyal patrons and media partners. Also present to grace the event were the HoH founder and program director Dr. Mae Dolendo, Tourism Assistant Secretary Eden David and Hon. January Duterte and children who all led the ceremonial lighting. This year’s theme dubbed ‘Seasons of Love’ is a contemplation of the eternal gifts that make a truly merry Christmas. “Probably the reason we are all so busy at Christmas time with the endless making of list and buying of gifts is that we don’t quite know how to put our love into words. At Waterfront, Christmas is most truly Christmas when we celebrate it by giving the light of love to those who need it most”, said Hotel Manager Bryan Lasala in his welcome speech. The 15-foot Christmas has been decked with classic red and gold and illuminated with warm lights to bring the best of tradition and the warmth of home during the season. Miniature stuffed teddy bears are all over the pines while a man-size bear lies at the bottom of the tree with boxes of gifts. With this, the hotel has formally launched one of their holiday promotions titled ‘Have a Beary Merry Christmas’ where part of the proceeds for every purchase of their signature bears at Php250.00 each will be given to the House of Hope Foundation for their treatment fund. You may either bring a bear home or
hang one on the Christmas tree which will later be donated to the children. For the second time in nine years of partnership with the Foundation, the kids from the House of Hope have all been invited to join in the customary activities. While they were treated to a Christmas film viewing prior to the lighting ceremony, a cocktail reception for all the invited guests followed at the Grand Agila Ballroom. The show featured performances by the Jaz Up Danz Crew and KDA acrobats as well as harmonious renditions by both the University of Mindanao Chorale and the hotel’s very own Insulares. The Waterfront management and team aims to give these children what they give the world – wonder, excitement, hope and compassion. And there is no better time to do it than during the season of gift giving and merry making, Christmas.
