LGU confers ‘Huwarang Pamilya’ award T
He secret to making a marriage long-lasting, happy and rewarding to both partners is learning how to tolerate conflict in a relationship. like any other couple, Alejandro Dayoc and his wife erlinda have had their fair share of arguments over everything from housework, to child-rearing, to finances. However, tolerance, coupled with true love and affection, were the main ingredients that allowed the lovely couple from New corella town to weather the storms in their 37 years of matrimony. “Ang bana ug asawa dili angay maglalis kanunay sa gagmayng butang(couples should not argue always on petty things),” Alejandro said. The retired Deped teacher revealed that as he and erlinda grow older together
they tried to avoid quarreling in favor of a more peaceful relationship. He bared that early on in their relationship he gave up smoking, alcohol drinking and other vices since they posed a potential flashpoint to marital squabbles. As he put it, he has mastered the art of finding ways to turn his attention away from likely conflicts with his wife, who is also set to retire soon from the teaching service. His abstinence from vices paid off, as it has not only assured them peaceful, happy home life, but also helped him set aside some savings to make both ends meet, particularly in paying the education of their seven children, who are now all professionals in their respective fields. Yet, he shared that their act of praying and going to church together as a family tops their recipe for success.

“Mapasalamaton kami sa mga panalangin, mainampoon sa kanunay ug nagasimba matag domingo (We are always counting our blessings and we also pray and go to church together,” he beamed. With the triumph of their relationship as a couple impacting on their parenting skills and community life, the Provincial Government awarded the Dayoc family the Huwarang Pamilya Pilipino 2013 award. The Dayocs emerged as the final winners out of the four remaining contenders from the municipalities of Braulio e. Dujali, Kapalong and New corella and from the city of Tagum, including the family of Board Member Vicente eliot. week after heavily armed men held hostage and used public school teachers here as human shields, the Department of education (Deped) in North cotabato reopened the Malingao elementary School with emotions pouring, an education official said Thursday. “it was a very emotional thing, i can’t help but shed tears with the
teachers and the parents,” North cotabato Schools Division acting Superintendent Romelito Flores said. “Not all teachers have returned and restart classes at Malingao,” he said after escorting five of the 13 teachers who were “told to stay put” in their school here as government forces and Moro bandits traded bullets
on September 23. “Some are still in the process of healing, they have been traumatized and we need to give them space. But some teachers have expressed willingness to return,” Flores said. classes resumed informally last Monday with most of the parents, mostly Maguindanaons, in tears as they welcomed the teachers
in their community. Recalling their ordeal, many teachers wore smiles and confidence in their faces. Flores would not identify who among the 13 teachers have decided to return and continue their work as “second parents” to about 500 pupils of the remote public school which was caught in the battle field two

oWeR supply in North cotabato’s 17 municipalities and one city is expected to improve Thursday with the completion of repair works on a topped power line, an official of electric cooperative Thursday said. engineer Godofredo Homez, general manager of cotabato electric cooperative (cotelco), said repair works of Steel Tower 141 of the National Grid corporation (NGcP) is expected to be completed Thursday morning and the 69 KV line from Kibawe, Bukidnon NGcP station to Kabacan is expected to be restored. “Hopefully power will improve beginning today
with about 20 megawatts added to cotelco service area from NGcP,” Homez said. North cotabato and other electric cooperatives attached to the Mindanao grid through the 69 KV line have experienced power outages of up to nine hours since last week after the NGcP tower was bombed. Suspected extortion group set off two improvised explosive devices at the foot of tower 141 in Sitio Malabuwaya, Barangay Kayaga, Kabacan, North cotabato, plunging North cotabato, Maguindanao, cotabato city, Sultan Kudarat and South cotabato. Power was only re-
stored three hours later but was very limited. Reacting to criticisms hounding cotelco from its member-consumers, Homez said the problem does not only affect consumers but everybody. “like you, we also suffer. like you, we also want an improved power supply in our area,” Homez said. “What happened was beyond our control. We are trying our best to improve the services,” he said, adding that after the toppling of power transmission tower in Kabacan, cotelco has been getting only 10 megawatts out of its 28 megawatts normal requirement.
