remember a time when i was much younger and beyond the time when there were malls in Durianburg. A time when the China Royale restaurant along R. Magsaysay street reigned and when street food consists of little grill places on the street corners. My favorite street food at that time would be barbecued native chicken (A Filipino style barbecue by the way is basically a grill, so barbecued chicken really means grilled chicken). every bite of barbecue native chicken is just a little more flavorful and has a better texture compared to ordinary barbecue chicken. too bad it was a delicious dish that was a bit difficult to find. Fast forward to today and toryano’s Chicken House has made my appetite for barbecue native chicken an easier craving to satisfy. Located along Legaspi street and just across the Apo View Hotel, the restaurant first opened its doors on August 8, 2008 by owner Victoriano Yee and has since revolutionized the way we eat barbecue native chicken. The menu of toryano’s is a mix of Dabawenyo specialties such as Kinilaw (ceviche of fish), Seafood Sinigang (sour soup), Pancit (stir-fried noodles) and new items such as Crispyfried tilapia ( which is one of my favorite new dishes). But the main reason

why people eat at toryano is definitely still the barbecued native chicken. each bite of toryano’s barbecue native chicken is tender, juicy, and meaty, much better than some other native chickens in the market that are dry and less meaty. proval. But if you are looking for more meaty fare, toryano’s also has regular meatier chicken on the grill which they serve with unlimited portions of rice. But for those who are looking for free-range, earthy, organically grown chicken, nothing comes close to toryano’s.

toryano’s is along Legaspi street, and is also located at Davao Autoville Center along F. torres street, Km 5 Buhangin road, national Highway Bangkal, and at Mankilam, tagum City. toryano’s is also opening a store at the Sky Garden of SM Lanang Premier and is also now open for franchising.

Seafood sinigang.

You know a place has good eats when their parking lot is always full. The fried tilapia was crispy and delicious without the muddy taste.
