Felcris launches new commercial district
T
HE yap owned and controlled Felcris group launched last week what it promises to be the newest hub for shopping, dining, and even office location in the city in its 5.9 hectare property along Quimpo Boulevard. Dubbed as Felcris Centrale, the property is located along Quimpo Boulevard, Barangay Bucana, will include a shopping mall, office buildings, residential towers and hotels. The first phase of the project will be the completion of the mall and BPO building at the cost of at least P1 billion. According to Colliers International, Davao City is the next wave city in the Philippines most suitable for call centers and BPO businesses. Covering more than 54,000 square meters of floor area, Felcris Centrale will feature a 12-storey commercial complex with a 10-floor office space and a two-level retail and entertainment center complete with supermarket, boutiques, restaurants, and specialty shops. It will feature a new mall which offers an exciting and eccentric mix of shops and restaurants that is complemented by a fully-landscaped activity and entertainment area. The interior walkways will show-
case Davao as the “Fruit and Flower Basket of the Philippines” consisting of flower stalls, fruit stalls, local delicacies and handicrafts. Felcris Centrale is ideally located and is easily accessible from neighboring business establishments, government offices, and residential communities. With its proximity to the Davao International Airport, Davao City Hall, and the old Davao Central Business District, this development provides its occupants easier access to the major transportation and business areas. Felcris Centrale will be Davao’s newest focal point where business and entertainment converge. The yap family commits to investing at least P5 billion for the whole project. The Felcris name is what defines the yap family. Today marks the 43rd anniversary of the Felcris name. Established by two brothers Felipe “Fel” and Cresencio “Cris” yap on Sept 19, 1969, Felcris began as a small retail store selling textiles in Anda Street, Davao City. The company prospered and the family saw the need to expand. In November 1976, Felcris Supermarket, Inc. was incorporated and Felcris Supermarket (Ramon Magsaysay) became the first
established supermarket in Davao City. Seeing the growth of warehouse club businesses around the world, the yap family formed the Davao Central Warehouse Club, Inc. on July 14, 1991. Davao Central Warehouse Club (Agdao) became the first warehouse club to service the wholesale consumers at the lowest price. The yap family is also the pioneer in the convenience store industry in Davao when it founded the Davao Central Convenience Store, Inc. on March 12, 1997. Davao Central Convenience Store opened five (5) branches in its first year of incorporation. Now it has expanded all over Mindanao from Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur in the north all the way to Malita, Davao del Sur in the south. “In this new endeavour, we intend to take the next step in our family’s vision. This has been a life-long dream of the yap family”, says Ms. Cassandra yap, Executive Vice President of Felcris Centrale. “The Felcris name is truly native Davaoeno. The yap family has always considered Davao as our home. Although we were all educated in Canada, we have always known that Davao is where we belong”, says Ms. yap.
