Narratives of 0’s and 1’s Narratives of 0’s and 1’s brings together the world of data through movement and the oral vocabulary of Indian classical dance form, Bharatanatyam. This creative dance piece seeks to decode the impact of binary representations of data in society. Using body as a data warehouse and music as a streaming process, performers attempt to extract narratives about data, transform them into the language of Bharatanatyam and load them into a 45 minutes production to integrate with the audience. The sonification of data along with a live musical ensemble consisting of Veena (string instrument), Ghatam (clay pot) and Nattuvangam (cymbals) provide the database or the background score to create these dialogues aka codes in real-time!
