Oak Park and Moonee Valley will play off for a spot in the Grand Final against Aberfeldie. It’ll be the first time since the introduction of the Premier competition that Aberfeldie won’t face Keilor in the big dance after Moonee Valley knocked them out in the elimination final last week.

Oak Park have proven themselves to be the clear next best after Abers losing just three games this season, all to the Two Blues.

Their two meetings against Dean Rioli’s Moonee Valley have resulted in comfortable victories for the Kangaroos, a 55-point win in Round 5, and a 20-point win in Round 12.

Lessey Hodgkinson and Nic Cook’s Kangaroos have been the most prolific side in front of goals this season led by the number one women’s goal kicker in Premier Metro Victoria Alex Quigley (41 goals), whose supporting acts in Sam German (18 goals) and Shanel Camilleri (15 goals) complement the well-balanced forward half.

The second time they faced the Fog, Nicole Chiera (21 goals) hit the scoreboard twice after being held goalless in the first matchup, with Charlotte D’Ambrosio (17 goals, eight games) also returning to that lineup to provide another forward for Oak Park to control.

While she didn’t hit the scoreboard, there’s no doubt her addition would have been handy with Moonee Valley doubling their score.

The Fog would need their big guns to step up if they’re to take the victory here, but when the likes of Anita Ovenden, Kerri Magee, Jessica Nannup, and Bronwyn Peddley are running out, you certainly can’t count them out.

AIRPORT TOYOTA WOMEN’S DIVISION ONE

Up until Round 11, the Airport Toyota Women’s Division One premiership looked like it was Greenvale’s to lose, but two consecutive losses to Burnside Heights and Essendon Doutta Stars shook things up.

The latter sides will face up this weekend for a Grand Final spot against Greenvale in a contest that has gone either way so far this season.

Douttas enjoyed a comfortable 58-point victory in Round 5 before the Bears squared the ledger with a 22-point win in Round 9.

Holly McGregor missed the first matchup but returned for Burnside Heights’ win the second time around as they managed to restrict the Douttas offense to just one goal scorer in Jessie Hulett.

Hulett kicked four goals in Round 5 and three goals in Round 9, so if the Bears are to stop her potency (more than two goals per game), it’ll limit their avenues to goal with Marie Napoli and Neve Crowley their next best at around a goal a game.

Coming into this game, the Bears have won seven of their last nine (two losses to Greenvale), while Douttas have won their last six games in a row.

Windy Hill awaits!

AIRPORT TOYOTA WOMEN’S DIVISION TWO

The Fog will have a second opportunity to book their spot in the Grand Final when their second side faces Aberfeldie 2.

The season series between these two sides is split down the middle with Moonee Valley 2 winning by 18 points in Round 5, and Aberfeldie 2 winning by 16 points in Round 12.

Moonee Valley were able to keep Abers sharpshooter Jacqueline Wade quiet in Round 5 before she booted three goals to give her side the edge in their second meeting.

A meeting with Airport West beckons for the victor!
