INDUSTRIES AND PROFESSIONS THAT WOULD BENEFIT FROM THIS PROGRAMME:

The New Zealand Certificate in English Language Level 1 (Foundation) is intended for learners who have a very minimal command or no command of English, who wish to gain more confidence in dealing with everyday simple topics in English. The foundation aims to provide a pathway to higher level studies.

Graduates from this programme will be able to work in positions that require minimal communication, instructions and commands, most of which are accompanied by supporting visual aids, such as gestures and graphics.

LEVEL 1 (FOUNDATION) -BEGINNER CEFR low A1

Training delivery will predominantly be Face-to-Face and delivery methods may include blended learning strategies as well as classroom discussion, case studies, role-plays and one-on-one conversations.

Academic Entry

Students participate in classroom role-playing activities (listening & speaking) in order to build confidence in dealing with day-to-day topics including giving and receiving instructions. Students engage in simple reading and writing exercises for both practical purpose and for the purpose of dealing with everyday activities.

Other than meeting the above requirements this programme has open entry. International students are tested prior to enrolment on their ability to speak, hear, read and write English. EDENZ Colleges has staff qualified to conduct both IELTS tests and Educational Service Centre (ESC) tests.

The New Zealand Certificate in English Language, Level 1 is intended for learners who have a minimal command of English. The aim is to provide graduates with the skills to communicate with support, in basic, familiar, everyday situations in order to participate in an English language environment.

Graduates from this programme will be able to work in positions that require basic, short memorised phrases, understanding of short, basic predictable spoken phrases, and understanding of a small range of individual words.

Training delivery will predominantly be Face-to-Face and delivery methods may include blended learning strategies as well as classroom discussion, case studies, role-plays and one-on-one conversations.

There are no pre-requisites for this programme. International students are tested prior to enrolment on their ability to speak, hear, read, and write English.

The New Zealand Certificate in English Language, Level 2 is intended for learners of English as an additional language who wish to become more independent and fluent English speakers, in furtherance of their needs in the community, employment or academic environments. Training delivery will predominantly be Face-to-Face and delivery methods may include blended learning strategies as well as classroom discussion, case studies, role-plays and one-on-one conversations.

8 core standards make up the New Zealand Certificate in English Language, Level 2, and are offered over 16 weeks of courses.

INDUSTRIES AND PROFESSIONS THAT WOULD BENEFIT FROM THIS PROGRAMME:

Training delivery will predominantly be Face-to-Face and delivery methods may include blended learning strategies as well as classroom discussion, case studies, role-plays and one-on-one conversations.

Graduates from this programme are likely to be able to apply for acceptance to (a) domain specific vocational certificates requiring moderate communicative ability and language knowledge, for example dance, cookery, martial arts (subject to meeting other academic requirements), (b) IELTs Preparation for Further Academic Study.

The programme is aimed at students who are likely to embark on degree-level studies following successful completion of this programme.

The New Zealand Certificate in English Language, Level 4 is for students who wish to develop their English communication skills to a high level of complexity and who wish to become more independent communicators in English speaking environments. The programme is aimed at students who wish to increase their likelihood of gaining employment and/or maximise theirlikelihood of success when studying domain specific undergraduate qualifications.

Graduates from this programme will be able to work in positions that require interpersonal communication, understanding of context-specific professional and/or technical texts, writing context-specific records and reports, and team interaction.
