On the Front Foot By Karl Collinson
The Bonny Blues began October on the front foot with a comprehensive victory away at Washington. Jim Nichols’ men blew the hosts away with a 6 minute treble at the start of the 2nd half. Penrith travelled to, top of the table, North Shields full of confidence hoping to take points off the league leaders. Jim Nichols was full of praise for his team after they more than matched North Shields and could have come away with all 3 points if they’d have taken one of their chances but were undone by two late goals. Northern League Division 1 fixtures didn’t get any easier for the Bonny Blues as we hosted 2015 league champions Marske United at Frenchfield Park. The visitors were held up by over 2 hours due to a traffic accident at Scotch Corner and the game didn’t get underway until 5pm.
