Volunteer Award Recipient

Renee “Coley” Clyde Inspirational Volunteer Award Recipient:

Karoline Robbins

The Renee “Coley” Clyde Inspirational Volunteer Award was created in 2018 in memory of a special member of EB’s community, and an incredible parent volunteer. The goal of the award is to honor and recognize a parent or family whose dedication to EB serves as a source of inspiration for our community, as did its namesake. We are thrilled to announce that the recipient of the 2019–2020 award is Karoline Robbins.

Ask around and you’ll find that Karoline’s name has become synonymous with friendly, welcoming, and superstar volunteer. She is well known to fellow parents, volunteers, teachers, and staff: she has been a member of the EB community for over twenty years, and has been an active participant and leader for countless events and projects during every one of those years! Her warm and welcoming personality have made her the perfect fit as Welcome Committee and Buddy Program Chair for many years, helping to make our new families feel part of our community. Karoline was instrumental in creating and organizing our beloved World Celebrations event, celebrating the amazing diversity at EB—always representing the UK with pride and fabulous tea! She has been a Room Representative for nearly every year for the last two decades—always a welcome and recognizable sight on campus as she brought food into classrooms for celebrations, showed up to decorate for events, and even made sure the beloved second-grade birds had a place to stay during vacations! Karoline’s creative spirit led to some memorable and beautiful Online Auction projects, as well as playing in-house photographer with a keen eye at events like the gala. She has taken the reins as Room Rep Coordinator and yearbook editor, not to mention opening her home to host many EB events. With three EB alumni also making Karoline an alumni parent, she co-chairs the Alumni Committee, describing this role as the second “bookend” of her volunteer roles, seeing parents both at the beginning and towards the end of their EB journey. Karoline embodies the spirit of a truly selfless volunteer and encourages others to join in with her gracious and generous example. Karoline—we are so grateful to you for sharing your warmth, creativity, energy, and devotion with us. You inspire us all!
