The Haishkarem family provided this obituary: A unique, gentle, wise, humorous and much loved soul passed from the Mullumbimby firmament on Friday January 15 with the death of Kym Haishkarem, aged 31. Kym was the eldest of the eight Haishkarem siblings and his loss, much as it has come as a shock, is understood. Kym always believed that there was more than this physical life on earth and that he was meant for greater things. Kym suffered a great deal with the life that was handed to him, though he tried for his family’s sake to be happy and assure us he was going well. Well-known on the streets of our town, Kym was an original and naturally talented artist who had his own sense

of style with dance, drawing, skateboarding, humour and conversation. He believed in many different cultures, theo-

ries, ways of living and forms of existence. Kym was someone you could always have an interesting conversation with

if you gave him the time. He had a great interest in ancient history and extraterrestrial life forms. Kym was always a very sensitive person who had an amazing and different sense of humour and a kind nature. Kym was able to address people and situations in a way that would achieve remarkable results. Kym was a very gentle, unique, serene person who seemed to inhabit several different worlds at once. There is not another like him. We have been blessed to have him in our lives. The Haishkarem clan and all those who truly knew him, though many believe that he is now with his little brother Nakana, will sorely miss Kym. Shine bright, Kym. . . we love you.

Greyhound enters the local shuttle bus market Greyhound Australia launched a new shuttle bus service last week between Brisbane and Byron Bay. Greyhound’s CEO Robert Thomas said the new service was being offered in response to increased demand for bus-

es between Brisbane and the coast. ‘More people are beginning to discover the benefits of travelling by bus to the beach,’ Mr Thomas said. ‘Not only does it remove the stress of driving in heavy summer traffic, it also

eliminates the hassle of trying to find a car park at a popular beach spot. ‘We’ll also be keeping the heat off travellers this summer by offering free bottles of chilled water to passengers on the Brisbane to Byron Bay

route. Passengers will also have the option of purchasing a special Byron Bay experience such as a surfing lesson or kayaking adventure through the Greyhound Adventures program.’ See more at www.greyhound. com.au.

With crunch-time looming for young people making final decisions about their 2010 job or study plans, North Coast TAFE has announced an expansion in full-time course places to respond to the weaker youth job market caused by the financial crisis. ‘While we’re seeing a welcome upturn

in job vacancy advertisements, we also know that many doors are still closed to young people and others without job-ready work skills. Completing a PreTrade or Work Skills course at a TAFE campus or a TAFE course at school as part of your HSC are all great ways to open those doors,’ said North Coast

trants who want to enhance their career opportunities and employment pathways. Those interested in finding out more are encouraged to enquire about course vacancies as soon as possible by contacting their local TAFE campus or the North Coast TAFE Customer Service Centre on 13 16 01.
