Corner Cartel: bringing Mexican to Bangalow Looking for something fresh and fun in Bangalow? The Corner Cartel has changed its focus to a more affordable Mexican cuisine that is light and fresh, made from quality ingredients, sourced from local suppliers. The result is a delicious signature menu with old and new favourites, like crispy fish tacos with mango salsa, or handmade jalapeno poppers with a goat cheese blend, for a price that doesn’t have you stewing over cost-of-living issues. After all, we still want to be able to go out to our local restaurant and have a great evening out. The nights have warmed up and the Corner Cartel, with its covered outdoor dining
right on the main street of Bangalow, and its stylish interior, is a great place to enjoy yourself with a bit of good food, a variety of cocktails, good service and a nice ambience. A margarita is a great place to start, and there are six different ones to choose from, along with a good range of both tequilas and mezcals, many other cocktails, as well as wines and beers. The dishes are easy to share, and there’s a happy hour from 5 to 6pm, this makes Corner Cartel a good spot to catch up with friends after work. For those nights when you don’t want to cook, or you’re with a larger family

group, there is a special kids’ menu, plus they cater for guests with special dietary requirements. There are also many options for gluten-free, dairy-free and vegan diners. While the new focus of the restaurant is on simple
Mexican dishes, don’t be concerned that you’ll only be offered the most basic Mexican fare – the citrusmarinated calamari with chipotle mayo, the warming chilli con carne or BBQ pork ribs in a house anchochilli glaze are interesting
dishes that you won’t find everywhere. The entire menu is available takeaway for those who need to grab it on the way home from work or on the way to kids’ sports or other activities. The kitchen is open until 8pm, sometimes later if you can’t get there any sooner. If you have a large group, you may be able to hire the whole restaurant for a function, and there are also set menus ranging from $30-$55pp, which can make organising a gettogether easy. ‘Although we’ve only been open a bit over six months, and it’s been a learning experience for me as a new restauranteur,
we’ve received a lot of positive feedback recently,’ says owner and local Lisa Fisher. ‘We put a lot of love into creating food with the best ingredients, and looking after people, and we love seeing the locals enjoying themselves. In fact, we are planning to extend our hours and start opening for lunches on Thursdays and Fridays this month.’ Follow Corner Cartel on Instagram for additional hours and updates (cornercartel2479).
