The first grade LJ Hooker two-day competition has seen TEB take one win for the season after beating Tweed-Banora in late October. In their current match against Marist Brothers being played at Oakes Oval in Lismore the visitors are 3/97 chasing 139.

Second grade The second grade side continued their winning ways on Saturday with a convincing victory over Alstonville. Playing at home on Kingsford Smith Oval,

TEB won the toss and sent Alstonville in to bat. The visitors were bowled out for 75 in 31 overs with TEB’s Anthony Melchior doing the most damage with a return of 5/19 off eight overs. Joshua Mallam chimed in with 3/25 off his eight. Alstonville opener Malcolm Rose (15 runs), along with Andrew Eather (16), Charlie North (11) and Andrew O’Brien (11 no) were the batters who reached double figures. TEB reeled-in the total in 15 overs with the loss of four wickets. Opener Philip Dali (21) and Riley Green (18) top scored. Alstonville’s Peter Van Zijl returned 3/22 off six overs. The win gave TEB seconds

four wins from four starts and sees them on top of the ladder with 35 competition points, ahead of Terranora Lakes (32), Cudgen (32) and Lennox Head (29).

Third grade TEB thirds maintained their undefeated start to the 2022–23 season with a win against Byron Bay at the Recreation Grounds last Saturday. TEB won the toss and choose to bat, and put 135 on the scoreboard before they were all out in the 29th over. Joshua Thick top-scored for the day with 29 runs,and Captain, Ben Crawford, contributed 16. Best bowlers for Byron Bay included Ross Kendall

(3/36 off four), Reece Egan (2/15 off six) and Shaun Greening (2/30 off seven). In reply Byron Bay could only muster 96 runs and were all out in the 28th over. Shaun backed up his bowling display with Byron’s top score of 27 and Doug Jarvis added 23. Joseph Elphick took the bowling honours for TEB with figures of 3/26 off seven overs, while Mark Sweeney was close behind with 3/28 off four overs. TEB sit on top of the third grade ladder with 35 competition points alongside Bangalow who also have five wins from five games. Byron Bay, Bangalow II and Mullumbimby Brunswick all have 23 points.

Photo supplied The Mullumbimby High U/16 girls futsal team have won another championship after travelling to Coffs Harbour in late October to contest the Combined High Schools North Coast Title. They qualified for the event after wining the CHS Far North Coast final in September. Continuing their winning ways the talented team got their tournament underway with a 20–1 victory over

Woodenbong. They went on to have another easy win in their semi-final and then won the final 4–1, defeating the title holders, Bellingen. ‘With the score 1–1 at half time, the second half was tight until Rhianna Browning scored one of her trademark goals from an impossible angle,’ coach Brian Hedge said. ‘The momentum with them, Mullumbimby then

took control with goals to Macey and Lilly Donnelly’. The team line up from their recent success at the Australian titles, where they were runners-up, was bolstered by the addition of Kaliyah Browning and Alisa Tomasella. ‘This has been a fantastic year for this team and we look forward to next year for more entertaining Futsal from Mullumbimby High School,’ Brian said.

Byron Bay local Michelle Pullen was delighted to win the Byron Bay Football Club’s major raffle prize worth $20,000. ‘I entered to support the community to build the clubhouse for our young footballers, but to win is just amazing. I can’t believe it,’ Michelle said The raffle raised over $47,000 towards a new community clubhouse on the Recreation Ground in Byron. The build is expected to commence in the new year. Some examples of eligible projects include: come and try days, coach or referee accreditation courses, new or updated websites, equipment, upgrading facilities and subsidised travel for junior teams.

There is a greater weighting for projects that clearly benefit women and girls, people with disability, culturally diverse and first nations peoples Applications close at 1pm Monday, November 21.
